I was watching my mommy make dinner while my brothers were chasing our dogs around the house waiting for daddy to come home. It started to heavily rain outside and the wind was started to growl at our house. Mommy looked very nervous, "Baby girl, go to your room and play with teddy." Suddenly, daddy burst through the door all wet, "Run!"  I see daddy run towards my brothers dragging them towards the backyard, while mommy tries to pick me up when a big, scary, black doggy jumps on my back. I scream when the doggy scratches and bites my back. It hurts. I fall to the ground when mommy jumps on me and hugs me tight. I cry into her chest and hear mommy crying too. In the background I hear daddy and my brothers screaming and shouting but mommy holds me too tight to let me see anything. "Make it stop mommy, make it stop!"

"I'm trying baby, I'm trying. I love you."

"Mommy!"

I shoot up from my bed drenched in sweat and drowning in tears. Her name dies bitter on my tongue. The burning sensation of the scars on my back slowly subdue. I quickly throw the blankets off and go to the bathroom to take a cold shower. The time reads 5 a.m. and I know I won't be able to fall asleep again so I decide to just get ready for school.

While I'm getting ready for school I take the time to collect my thoughts. Calmly, like I do everyday, I take my dark thoughts from my nightmare and pack it neatly in the darkest, most untouched part of my mind. I know they'll return some time soon but for now that'll do.

Looking in the mirror, I hate what I see. I see some one broken inside. I see a girl full of fear. A girl so fearful and shy she can't even look people in the eyes. Thank god I'm the only one that can see, at school I put up a front like I'm going through the same shit a normal teenage girl's going through. On the outside, I see a pale face, golden, brown eyes, untamed raven hair, the hidden scar by my ear, and dark purple circles under my eyes. It's been the fourth time this week I've woken from nightmares. This time, the nightmare was easier to bare because I was expecting it.

From downstairs, my foster mom starts to call me downstairs snapping me out of my thoughts, " Kids hurry up! School time!" Dragging my tired ass downstairs, I grab a banana to eat during my walk to school.

Plugging my ear buds into my phone, I blast Shinedown at full volume. Effectively blocking out the sounds of the outside world. Caught up in my own thoughts, I didn't see the man until i had bumped into  him and landed flat on my ass on the road. I looked up to see a really tall, dark, fit man. He was dressed in a black leather bike jacket, black skinny jeans, and shades so I couldn't see his face very well. Feeling extremely uncomfortable, I faced the ground, not daring to look up and shied away.

I heard a car horn honking. Only turning my head to the side slightly to see a car coming at me at full speed. Curling myself into a protective ball I await impact. Suddenly I was pulled to my feet and out of the way of the moving car. When I looked up I saw the man starring down at me with a scowl on his face. Up close, I could see faded scars all across his face. There was one in particular near his brilliant golden, brown eye. I was taking in his face, when a very deep, masculine voice rang through my head, " Your journey is just beginning."

I heard another voice call out to me, " Hey kid, you alright? Those were some fast reflex's you've got?" What he said confused the shit out of me, was this guy for real? " Uh....uh..i'm fine..." After I assured him I was fine, he walked away. Turning on my heel, the stranger that saved me was gone. Seriously, did that just happen? Whatever, I have English first period and I can't be late. I started speed walking to school, I got there with just 5 minutes to spare. Keeping my eyes to the ground, I hurried over to my locker to grab my English binder
