Chapter Fifteen

Toni's POV
It's been a week and some days since Cheryl and I broke up. Betty and V are kinda talking but not much. V and I have been playing basketball every chance we get. It's all we do now and I honestly don't hate it, I get to spend time with my best friend and play our favourite sport.

I'm supposed to be in lunch right now but I'm in the gym playing basketball of course. Veronica is at lunch with Betty, she usually is with me but she's getting her girl back so it's cool.
I shoot the basketball and it goes in but rolls to the gym door and someone opens it. In comes Cheryl looking like she's being pushed in the door, I see Kevin and Fangs run past the other doors. She grabs the ball and tosses it to me "Thanks" I say and she gives me a small smile. I don't know what to do so I just start dribbling the basketball some more and shooting while she stands in the back awkwardly and watches me. "Toni" she says and I stop dribbling "We have to talk" she tells me and I nod and go sit on the bleachers and she sits beside me "I'm sorry that I made you go back to drinking" she says and I shake my head "You didn't know and it's not your fault" I tell her "I broke up with you and yelled at you" she says and I just look at her.
She looks into my eyes "Life has been shit since we broke up" she says "I wish I wasn't so jealous" she looks away "Cheryl I don't like V in that way and never will. I never stopped loving you and never will" I tell her and she smiles and looks at me, my eyes travel down to her lips "You know miss HBIC. You have taken over the school since we broke up" I laugh and she smiles. Cheryl has been so much more ruder to people since we broke up but she has gotten ever more hotter which honestly shouldn't be possible. She leans in and I pull her closer to me and connect our lips, the kiss was passionate and I missed her lips so much.

We pull away and she smiles "I missed you so much" I say and she kisses my lips again "Same here" she smiles and I kiss her again. "Come on Fangs and Kevin made me stop eating my lunch" Cheryl says and takes me back to the lunch room and I sit down with our friends. "Yes!!" Kevin cheers "I missed you two together" Fangs says "I missed my sister at the house without dribbling a basketball" He adds and I flick him off, Cheryl starts eating and she's holding my hand. I love this girl so much. V and me high-five "We got our girls back" she says and I smile looking at Cheryl, I kiss her cheek and she blushes "Works every time" I say and everyone laughs.

I'm laying in my bed with Cheryl. "Where is Toni?" I hear Sweetpea ask Fangs "In her room" Fangs tells him "Why don't I hear a basketball?" He asks concerned coming into my room "Because I have a Cheryl now" I laugh and he smiles "Good. I thought you died or something" he says "Why would she die?" Cheryl asks "She distracts her self with basketball and it's all we've been hearing for weeks, if I don't hear it she's either sleep or dead" Sweetpea laughs, I get up and grab my basketball "Don't you dare" he says and I start dribbling my ball and he slams the door "Don't put a hole in the floor!!" He yells and I laugh "Come here" Cheryl whines reaching her arms out and I crawl on top of her.
We're laying here in my bed still "Can I ask you something?" Cheryl says randomly and I nod "When did you and Veronica start drinking and stuff?" She asks "When we were 13 and 14 V's parents were having an affair and that messed her up. My uncle was abusive and we both just wanted to get away. So we drank and did drugs and that's how we coped. It sucked but it's what we had to do" I tell her and she frowns "I'm sorry y'all had to go through that" she says and I shrug "It's out life, we got through it together. That's why we're so close" I tell her and she nods and kisses my cheek. "I love you" she says and I smile "I love you too" I tell her and she smiles and kisses me again.
We hang out for the rest of the day and I drive her home "Nice to see you again Toni" Penelope says and I smile and give her a hug "Glad to see you too" I say and she smiles at Cheryl and I "I'll see you tomorrow" Cheryl says to me and kisses my lips and I start to walk out "Babe" Cheryl says and I turn around "I love you" she smiles "I love you too babygirl" I smile and go back to my house.

"Why are you here" I say once I get inside since I say V's car outside "Want to play basketball?" She smirks and we run outside to the southside basketball court.
