Japan. The land of the rising sun was more than Aija could have imagined and then some. The furthest she had ever been in her earlier life was Myrtle Beach with her father. Now that she was the betrothed of a millionaire, Aija know knew from just that fact alone that she would be able to see the world like she always wanted.

She stood in awe staring at the home in Kyoto her fiancé owned as his and soon would be hers. The traditional-looking home was called a machiya style house as Hikaru had informed her. It was beautiful outside but as Hikaru walked in front of her and slid open his front door, she gasped seeing the inside. She walked in almost going steadfast into the house before a strong hand grabbed her arm quick, pulling her back.

"Aija," Hikaru started as she looked at him in question and his head gestured to her feet. "Here in Nihon, we take our shoes off before we enter fully into the home."

Aija groaned, head palming. She had read about that ahead of time. "I'm sorry, Hikaru. I knew better. I guess I was just excited to look around."

Chuckling, Hikaru closed the door and then kicked off his shoes before kneeling down to put them neatly near a raised platform. Aija sat down watching as he put on a pair of house shoes. She took her time taking off her boots just taking in everything around her. That foreign feeling of not being at home was strong but she embraced it fully, wanting take in the city just as much.

The feeling of soft cuddly warmth surrounded her feet and she looked down to see Hikaru putting her own pair of slippers on. The act of care warmed Aija's heart and she smiled down at him as he returned the smile.

"I asked Fue for a favor to bring you some slippers. She's my housekeeper."

"That's so nice. I hope you gave her something nice in return."

"An afternoon off suffices I think."

Aija grabbed one of her bags and gave an approving nod. "I think that suffices though a whole day off is better. It's not her job to find slippers for me." Her eyes goaded him to agree and Hikaru rolled his eyes with a playful grin.

"I'll see what I can do about that, Aija if that will please you." He said to her.

"It will. Thank you, my love. Just because we're in Japan doesn't mean we forget to be humble." Aija stared into his eyes and Hikaru was once again reminded that his betrothed came from very humble beginnings. He walked up to her, taking her hands and kissing the back of both of them.

"I wouldn't dream of forgetting. Come on, the bedroom is back here."  Aija held on to Hikaru's hand as he walked her through the house that seemed to made of ebony-colored wood, beige walls of clay, and sliding doors.

Bonsai trees were situated almost in every corner that Aija could see and she smiled at Hikaru's love for them. The green of the trees gave the home a sophisticated pop of color that she welcomed. Looking up she saw a skylight bathing the hallway in a peaceful light as they walked quietly to one of the back rooms. Hikaru released her hand to slide it open, moving to the side for her to walk in.

Aija did just that, her eyes taking in Hikaru's bedroom with amazement. It was a good-sized room on gleaming, smooth tatami mats. The front and left side of the bedroom's walls were all windows with drapes drawn up all the way, no doubt thanks to Fue who had anticipated their arrival, Aija assumed. In the middle of the room against the right wall was surprisingly a dark-colored floor level bed instead of a futon. To the right of the bed was an opening that Aija hoped was the closet for her clothing.  Her eyes couldn't deviate from the bed which was coaxing her ever so closer to. She truly was exhausted. Maybe a little nap would be okay...
