Toni POV:

The kiss lasted a bare millisecond before...

"CHERYL! There you are! Are you okay? Oh my god what happened to you?" A raven haired girl burst in and exclaimed in a panicked voice.

I groaned slightly and stepped away. It was only at this point the rich-looking girl put two and two together and realized what she had interrupted.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry guys!"

I stood there, not saying anything, but Cheryl quietly said, "It's-its fine Ronnie I have to get to class now anyway."

She tried to slip past 'Ronnie' but the dark haired girl's face went from shocked to worried when she saw a glance of Cheryl's face. Pulling her arm before she could exit the bathroom, she concernedly asked,
"Cheryl! What happened?? Tell me!"

"Veronica..." Cheryl suddenly had a change of behavior and stepped forward into Veronica's embrace, silently sobbing.

I still stood there, frozen. Then the bell rang.

Veronica turned around to leave, and that's when Cheryl came over to me and gave me a quick peck on the cheek. She was blushing when she ran after Veronica.

Cheryl POV:

After kissing Toni not once, but twice, my face was on fire. As i left the bathroom with Veronica, i touched my cheek with my hand and it was burning. I wiped my tears before going to class, not as upset anymore.

Class went on as usual but i couldn't get the serpent girl off my mind. I know i barely know her and we just hugged and kissed twice! It felt right in the moment though..

-

I finished my last class of the day and walked out the front door of school to the parking lot where my car was.

I got my car key out of my backpack and opened the driver's door. As i was stepping in, i heard a familiar voice call my name.

"Hey Cheryl."

I turned around and scanned the area, my eyes landing on a certain brunette.

"O-oh, hey Toni," I gave a small smile.

Toni smiled back before looking to the ground with a nervous look.

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime to get to know each other better," the tanned girl shyly asked.

I was taken by surprise so i took a hesitant breath in responding, which i guess Toni comprehended the wrong way.

"I-i get it if you don't want to, i'll just go now." Toni hung her head as she turned around to leave and i realized i was losing my shot.

"WAIT! Toni, yes i'd love to hang out with you sometime," I blushed and grinned.

"Oh that'd be great!" Toni whipped back around, relieved.

"Here's my number so we can plan something," I bravely gave my phone to Toni so she could copy my number into her contacts.

A few seconds later she handed my phone back beaming.

"Well, uh, i'll text you!" Toni awkwardly stood there and i decided to be nice.

"Hey, uh, super random but would you like a ride home?"

"I would love that," She walked around the back of the car and got in the passenger seat.

Toni POV:

Of course I immediately accepted, why wouldn't i? But it was only a second after I sat down in the passenger seat I realized I made a mistake.

Because I didn't have a place to call home anymore.

Cheryl plugged in her phone to play music and was vibing hard while I was acting as best as i could.

"Oh by the way what's your address? Or do you want to go to Pop's or something to get an afterschool snack?"

It's crazy how quickly her mood changed from this morning, coming into school beat up, and now here she was jamming to music with a smile plastered on her face.

Speaking of beat up, i should probably ask her what happened when she feels more comfortable to talk about it, just to make sure she's safe.

But for now, she was looking at me, expecting an answer to her questions.

Cheryl POV:

"S-sure, Pop's is good," she dully answered.

"Okay great!" I started driving in the direction of the town's beloved diner. Toni and I listened to music for the span of the ten minute car ride from school.

When we got there, we were greeted by Pop warmly, and led to a nice booth near the back of the diner by a waitress.

I sat down on one side and Toni sat on the other. We both picked up our menus and scanned the desserts and milkshakes sections. After we had decided, we kindly called over the nearest waiter.

"Hello! What can I get for you fine young ladies today?" A dark haired boy with a sheepish grin painted on his face attended to us in a manner a little too friendly.

"Hi, uh, i'd like a caramel hazelnut milkshake and a slice of key lime pie please," Toni politely smiled, and i secretly hoped the waiter wouldn't regard her mannerly tone as flirting.

I strew a little HBIC emphasis into what I said next. "Hello, yes, i'd like a raspberry cherry milkshake and a strawberry frosted donut. And make it stat." I twirled my hair on my finger and threw a fakey look at the cocky boy.

His smile wavered, but only for a second before he regained his confidence.

"Is that all? Or would you like my number as well?" He winked at Toni, and i'd just about had it.

"NO, that will be all, thank you very much." I snapped at the arrogant dick who thought he could hit on girls. Specifically Toni, and right in front of me at that.

A small voice in the back of my mind told me to calm down after he walked away rolling his eyes. No wait, the voice wasn't in the back of my head, it was right in front of me.

"Cheryl, calm down. Are you okay? Why'd you blow up at that waiter like that?" Toni leaned forward with an expression i could only decipher as perplexed as she awaited my response.

"I- he was being disgusting, hitting on yo-US, like a, like a barbaric pig!"

Toni laughed. Not the response I was expecting.

"Cheryl, you do realize i AM used to men hitting on me right? You don't need to defend me. Besides, they don't even realize that I just so happen to swing for the other team."

My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I registered her words.
Swing for the other team.

She couldn't mean... "You're a lesbian?" I attempted to hide the incredulity laced through my sentence.

I could tell Toni didn't expect my very direct answer.

"Ah, uh, i'm bisexual, but a huge preference for girls."

Of course, i'm dumb, thinking a straight girl would kiss me. I mean technically i kissed her twice but the first time seemed mutual.

"Oh, that's cool," I adjusting my seating position before blurting out,
"I'm lesbian, so, uh, yeah."

The second the words left my mouth I mentally facepalmed. I literally messed up coming out to my crush, how much more embarrassing can it get?

But Toni's stretched into a huge smirk as she reached her arm out to put it over mine.

"I guess that means we both like pussy."
