Bloody Crazy Teachers
Hogwarts, Somewhere in Scotland
It's safe to assume that Harry was worried for his first DADA class. His last seven, more of like six, consisted of strange and unusual DADA professors, most of which tried to kill him. So he didn't trust the new professor, however nice he may seem, to be any different.
Hermione and Ron didn't help his worries either, as they too, were wary of the new teacher. As the three walked into the classroom, along with everyone else, Harry marvelled at the beauty of the new class.
It seemed to have been a beach themed, as water poured down the walls, flowing into pools surrounding the outline of the classroom. Harry even had to cross a mini bridge to get to the seats, which weren't seats. No, they were comfortable beach chairs along with an umbrella and all. The room seemed to have grown ten times larger since he last saw it!
But that was just the front of the room. The back of the room Harry couldn't see, as it was walled off by a beach scene painted on. Harry stopped as he took in the sheer beauty of the room, and it seemed everyone else was entranced as they made there way to their seats, too.
The professor up at the front, who was leaning against a miniature drink bar which served as his desk, clapped his hands and smiled at them, a real, genuine smile. "Welcome to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Let's get started, shall we?"
Suddenly, all of Harry's worries dimmed as he settled into his beach chair and listened intently as the professer spoke.
"Hello," he starts, "my name is Professer Percy Jackson, but I don't like formalities, so just called me Percy or Jackson, doesn't matter." Harry had never met such a laid back teacher before, especially one teaching DADA.
"Now," he continues, not noticing, or ignoring, the surprised glances, "I have been told that this class prefers a more...hands on approach, I guess you could say. So, I asked a friend to help me grab a certain creature. Anybody wanna venture a guess at what this creature is? Here's a hint, you've learned about it before."
Hermione's hand shot up into the air, and Percy calls on her. "Yes..?"
"Hermione Granger," she answers immediately. "Are we learning about dementors?"
Percy smiles. "Correct." Surprised and nervous gasps fill the relative silence of the room, but Percy silenced them with a wave of his hand. Nobody was too keen on disobeying him, as he seemed to radiate power. "Don't worry, this friend of mine also tamed the dementor, so it won't try to suck out your soul!"
He said it with such cheerfulness and confidence that everybody was inclined to believe him. Except Hermione, who's hand shot up in the air. Again.
"You can't tame a dementor," Hermione says, her voice full of suspicion. Percy, however, just grins again.
"Are you sure? Has anyone ever tried?" Before anyone could answer, he continues, way too cheerful. "Let's see!"
The cupboard besides him flung open, and out came a vicious dementor baring it's teeth at them, but doesn't attack. Instead, it stays back, looking directly at Percy, who is grinning.
"Alright, you all have learned the Patronus Charm, correct? Great! Harry, you go first!" Harry stumbles towards the dementor, already feeling the effects of it's power.
He steadied himself and thinks of happy thoughts. Defeating Voldemort, getting his Hogwarts letter, meeting his friends. He focuses on these thoughts and points his wand at the dementor.
