"What did you just say?"

I took a few steps back to remove the condom and throw it away. Logan watched me, completely slack-jawed by my words. I walked back over to him and reached up to cup the side of his face. "I love you, Logan."

Still slack-jawed. "...what?"

"I love you." I chucked and stroked his cheek. "I'm...so fucking in love with you."

Logan opened and closed his mouth repeatedly. He tried to swallow. He licked his lips. "You—you love me..." His eyes slid shut briefly. "I never thought I would hear you say that." He scoffed before adding, "I never even thought I would see you again. Why am I seeing you again?"

I gave him a side smile and gestured to the bed. "Maybe we should sit down and talk now."

Logan looked down at his body. "Naked?"

That made me laugh. "Yeah, we should put something on." After we put our pants back on, I sat on the edge of his bed and he sat next to me. When he went to speak, I held up my hand to stop him. "Let me go first. I shouldn't have called Amelia behind your back. I meant it when I said I was trying to help, but I didn't go about it the right way. I'm sorry, Logan."

His eyes dropped to his hands and shook his head. "I shouldn't have overreacted. I should have just called my family when I left. Hell, I probably shouldn't have left to begin with. I was just running away from the truth." When he looked back up at me, the pain in his eyes cut right through me. "I'm so sorry for what I said to you. I regretted it immediately. You were right, I didn't fight for us. For you. Im—" he closed his eyes briefly, "—I'm so fucking sorry."

I had already planned on forgiving him for that—but fuck did it hurt when it happened. I exhaled a heavy sigh before I was able to meet his gaze again. "We both said and did things we regret. Let's just put it behind us and move forward."

"Yeah, I agree. So, you got my voicemail then? That's when you decided to come here?"

I shook my head. "No. Actually, I realized I loved you before you even called me."

Logan's eyes went wide. "Really? What—what made you..."

This is what I meant when I told him we needed to talk. There was a lot to say and a lot we needed to work on. For starter's, there was something important he needed to know.

"The morning after you told me to leave, I got a call from Vanessa. She asked me to come over and talk to her. Even though you and I argued, I was still going to end it with her. It was obvious that I didn't want to be with her." I ran my hand through my hair before I continued, "When I got there..." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "Uh, when I got there, my father was there."

"Your—your father? That piece of shit was there?"

I nodded but kept my eyes on the carpet. "Yeah. Apparently, someone he knew saw us outside of Vincenzo's that night and they called him."

Logan cursed under his breath. "How did he know wh—" Then it dawned on him. "Your job...earlier at dinner you said that your job gave out your personal information. That's what you were talking about."

"Yeah. They gave him Vanessa's address. Anyway, so he showed up and yelled at me. Same shit as always. He said I was going to Hell, so I told him I would save him a seat."

That made Logan chuckle. "No, you didn't."

"Yeah," I laughed. "It felt...really good to stand up to him. I pretty much rubbed you in his face. That's when he backhanded me and busted my lip."
