Y/N looked at the other three Pevensies, who were deep in conversation with the Beavers. Without thinking, she grabbed her coat and slipped out of the house. She trudged through a large mound of snow, before spotting Edmund only about a hundred metres ahead. She noticed that he was gripping himself tightly. He had forgotten his coat.
"Edmund!" she called out - loud enough for only Edmund to hear (by this time, she was closer to him than the dam).
The boy froze in his tracks and slowly turned around, a guilty expression spread across his face.
"Uh... Y/N," he said.
"Where are you off to?" Y/N asked, as she made her way to him.
Edmund hesitated for a moment.
"Well?" said Y/N, getting impatient.
"The White Witch," Edmund mumbled.
"Isn't she the one we wanted to avoid?" thought Y/N.
"She's good, Y/N. I know she is," Edmund said quickly, reading her expression.
"I don't know... The beavers said-" Y/N started.
"And how do you know they're not tricking us?" Edmund reasoned.
"I suppose I hadn't thought of it like that..." Y/N admitted.
Edmund extended his arm to her, " Come with me. I'll prove it to you."Y/N had two choices - to turn Edmund in or to follow him. There was a tiny part of her that knew choosing the former was better. A tiny, miniscule part of her. But the rest of her trusted him completely (she didn't even know why - she had only just met him yesterday). She didn't fully trust what he was doing, but she trusted him.
"O-okay..." she said. The two children walked through the thick wood for a long time, until they reached an open area between two hills. In the middle was a sort of ice palace. When they reached two gigantic doors, the doors automatically opened. It was at that exact moment that Y/N could've sworn she heard someone shouting hers and Edmund's names. And she was right. Peter, Susan and Lucy (and the beavers - but they weren't yelling) we're watching Y/N and Edmund enter the Witch's house from a hill somewhere behind. But let's get back to Edmund and Y/N.
Y/N looked at Edmund, unsure about going on. But he walked in confidently with a brave face. So Y/N followed. As soon as they entered, Y/N felt a chill go down her spine. They were in an ice castle, after all, but this wasn't a cold chill; it was a frightful one. They walked further, into a large courtyard, filled with statues of animals and dwarves and giants and other creatures that you wouldn't find in our world.
Edmund suddenly stopped. Y/N noticed that he had stepped into a pile of coal. He stooped down to pick one up. She looked at him curiously. Edmund used the piece of coal to draw a pair of glasses and a moustache on the statue of a lioness. Of course, it was a very childish thing to do, but it certainly earned him a laugh from Y/N.
Y/N did feel some sympathy for all the statues. But she had no time to worry about them, for when Edmund stepped over what they thought was the statue of a sleeping wolf, it jumped into the air, knocking them both to the ground.
"Be still, strangers. Or you'll never move again," the wolf said, "Who are you?"
"I'm Edmund!" Edmund shouted, "And this is my friend, Y/N. I met the Queen in the woods! She told me to come back here! I'm a Son of Adam!"
The wolf quieted down at Edmund's last statement.
"My apologies, fortunate favour of the Queen," the wolf got off them, "Or else, not so fortunate."He led them up a flight of stairs, "Right this way."
They entered a large throne room. Y/N walked cautiously behind Edmund.
"Wait here," the wolf said, before leaving.
For a moment, the only audible sound was the padding of the wolf's paws on the ice floor. Edmund looked around, before walking up to the large throne. Before Y/N could stop him, he sat down on it.
"Edmund!" she hissed.
She was going to pull him away, but then she saw 'her'. A tall, slender, pale woman.
"The White Witch!" Y/N thought, hiding behind a pillar, "Or...er... the Queen, I guess."
Still, she was scared and kept her hiding spot, as she watched he Queen walk up to Edmund from behind.
