17. A time for Hell

1. It was early morning in Hell, and after breakfast before the rush hour began. Lucifer was rushing through the halls of his palace, followed by a curious Dan.

"where are you going?" Dan followed like a puppy to Lucifer's walk.

"I have some business to take care of" Lucifer took on his red coat as he strode down the halls.

"What kind of business?" Dan asked.

"do you usually do this to get attention?" Lucifer looked back.

"depends on my mood, so where are you going?" Dan quipped.

"I need to go to a convent" Lucifer said.

"a convent?, how's that even possible down here?" Dan laughed.

"It just is, and anyway, this is a very unique kind of convent, and I need their help. With all this stuff about Blood Moon day coming up, I think they may be the ones who can help me" Lucifer explained.

"so, who are we talking about, monks or nuns?"

"nuns" Lucifer spoke.

"oh, I see. Little Luci wants some action?" Dan nudged Lucifer's shoulder.

"it's not like that. Now I've written what I want you to do on the table in the lounge. You're in charge of the palace while I'm gone. No broken glass, no pissing off the butlers, and for the love of God, absolutely under no circumstances, is there to be anything on these grounds to indicate a party happened. Okay?" Lucifer closed the door behind him and rushed to his Lamborghini that roared up the street into the distance.

"Alright, Geesh." Dan walked back from the windows into the palace to see what the task was that Lucifer had left for him.

2. Dan read the note and immediately went to the location of where he needed to be. He was heading to the district of Sibyl along Hades way. There was a small yellow bungalow house set amongst higher darker apartment blocks. In the note Lucifer had left, Dan had been given the key to the bungalow, revealing a man in a steel barred cage overlooked by a shaking spotlight. The man wore a striped shirt and blue jeans yet looked at the approaching Dan with a psychotic smile on his face.

Dan reread the note, wondering why this was the place that Lucifer wanted him at. On a small stool near the cage, there was a silver pistol. Lucifer had instructed Dan to hand out the daily punishment to one of the worst souls in all of Hell, one more offense away from the Oblivion execution. His name was Andrew Gale Lawrence, a convicted serial killer who was condemned to his prison for numerous attempted murders after arriving in Hell. Usually, Lucifer came by to let off some steam on the S.O.B, but with him out of the way, Andrew had a new toy to play with.

"Hey there, you new around here?" he grinned to Dan.

"Just shut up and let me do this" Dan cocked the pistol and began to shoot Andrew several times until he fell to the floor of his cell. Whatever he had done back in the human world was insidious and mortifying enough to lead him here, making Dan cautious. On a steel plate in the cage was the digit of a human hand, making Dan plain aware that Andrew was also a cannibal.

"you're a real softy. I was expecting you to be madder" Andrew commented upon his reanimation.

"you're one to talk, look at you, here in this cage, like the animal you are" Dan taunted the killer in the cage.

"if anyone's the animal, it's the angel-demon thing I'm looking at. Take a gander in the mirror pal" Andrew retorted.

"you really are a piece of shit" Dan was angered.
