Ah yes. I'm going to write fanfic!
fuck this. journal time.
A video made my friend upset, I watched the video and made an essay. Would you like to read it? no? too bad, here you go:
"Hi, I'm a music student and English major. This wasn't much of a reaction from my perspective, as you didn't listen to the whole song. Listening to this video felt a lot more like bullying then reacting and reviewing. In the terms of sounding auto tune? that would be a vocal layering program, (as informed by my friend who understands programing better than I). Your selection of videos to compare Roadtrip to, the Horsey song (to the theme of Spiderman) is based on a popular joke that even I participated in as a child, as the popular parody of the Spiderman theme is Spiderpig, sung on playgrounds out of tune, on purpose. You chose to compare a meme to a professionally produced song.
"Now, I did state that I was a music student, I'm a classical music student who's been learning music and music theory for the past eight years. Upon listening to the whole song (which I have done a few times), I have found no instances of mispronunciation in the song, only a difference in how long a note is being held. Mocking this is a very novice jab at the singer and the song, as well as insulting to those with a speech impediment. Speech impediments that I was lucky to avoid, but my family had to work though and take speech therapy for years to overcome.
"On to the professional singers you compared him to. You compared him to popular pop singer Justin Bieber. That would be easy to draw similarities to as Roadtrip is, in fact, a pop song. You could have drawn similarities to other artists of the same genre, such as Katy Perry, and it would still have the same effect, nothing. What you are doing is drawing attention away from the fact that this song is just, not your style. If you don't like something for what it is, just say so.
"Let's move on. You didn't finish the song. Making it impossible to claim it as a review of the song "Roadtrip". Even if it was just to review Dream's singing, claiming, "This is about Dream." It wasn't. This "*insert influence name here* can't sing" series, is pathetic. It's cruel and makes people feeling guilty for enjoying something that they have the right to enjoy for what it is.
Now you could argue that "I didn't have to listen to this video" that "I could have kept this five paragraph essay to myself and moved on with my life none the wiser", but I'm an asshole. You made my friend upset, and shat on someone who really needs a break from all these accusations about what is real in his life. You said you had high expectations for this song because "Dream has money". That's a stupid reason to raise expectations for a song. Dream was a choir kid, and this song is him gaining confidence and breaking away from a niche we claim we want him to break away from. Yet every time he does we throw insult after insult his way.
So yeah, hate me, claim this is a hate comment. tell me to suck your dick. I got news for you, you might have a bigger dick, but you're no better than the people you claim are just hopping on the Dream hate train because it gets you views.
I'm not sorry."
(Video at the top is the video I made this comment on.)
And now back to fanifiction.
That's right, I'm writing a long fanfiction with my friend, Kitsune! (@AzureWing3 ) Its a Dream SMP fanfiction! (I fear for my life)
Oh yeah, I watch that religiously, I MADE SPREAD SHEETS. It might be unhealthy, yes. But REMEMBER I'm a bardbarian who can't flirt on paper but the words I write get me places.
Will there be a discord? MAYHAPS.
