Dean is standing in a dim hallway. He grimly turns towards the door and pulls out a gun. He slides out the clip, taps it on the gun, then replaces it. Inside the room, there is a Crater Lake poster on the wall. Below it is a young blond man tied to a chair. Nearby are a young woman, a middle aged woman, and a tough-looking coloured man. The blond man looks up as Dean opens the door and enters, raising his gun.
'No, no, no, no, no, you're not gonna...no, I swear! It's not in me!' The tied up man babbles.
'Oh God. We're all going to die,' the young woman ads.
'Maybe he's telling the truth,' the man interferes.
Dean cocks the gun. 'He's not him, not anymore,'
'No, stop it! Stop it! Ask her, ask the doctor! It's not in me!'
I just...I can't tell,' the doctor answers.
'No, please, don't. Don't. I swear, I,'
'I got no choice,' Dean tells the man.
'I swear, it's not in me, it's not in me! Don't, don't. Please!' The man tries again through his sobs. Dean fires the gun twice.

Sam is lying on the floor beside the motel bed coming out of the vision. The door opens and Dean and Hermione enter. Dean was chewing on a jerky carrying a six-pack of beer while Hermione was chuckling from something Dean had said before they entered. Sam sits up panting. Hermione's chuckle quickly stops as they both notice Sam's state.
'Sam?' Dean starts.
'No...' Sam answers.

Dean is driving the Impala. Sam is navigating with a GPS device which speaks directions. Hermione is sitting in the backseat between the boys.
'Continue on O-R Two-Two-Four West,' the GPS spoke.
'There are only two towns in the US named Rivergrove,' Sam points out.
'How come you're so sure it's the one in Oregon?' Dean asks. Sam remembers the vision a Oregon poster was on the wall behind the young man.
'There was a picture. Crater Lake,' Sam answers.
'Okay, what else?'
'I saw a dark room, some people, and a guy tied to a chair,'
'And I ventilated him?'
'Yeah. You thought there was something inside him,'
'What, a demon? Was he possessed?'
'I don't know,'
'Well, all your weirdo visions are always tied to the Yellow-Eyed Demon somehow...so was there any black smoke? Did we try to exorcise it?'
'No. Nothing, you just plugged him, that's it,'
'Well, I'm sure I had a good reason,'
'I sure hope so,'
'What does that mean?' Sam looks away. 'I mean, I'm not gonna waste an innocent man,' Sam raises his eyebrows. 'I wouldn't!'
'I never said you would!'
'Fine!'
'Fine! Look, we don't know what it is. But whatever it is, that guy in the chair is a part of it. So let's find him, and see what's what,'
'Fine,'
'Do you think it's a good idea to bring Dean?' Hermione asks from the backseat.
'What is that supposed to mean? You don't want me along is that it?' Dean turns to look at her.
'Dean the road!' Sam shouts. Dean quickly turns back with his eyes on the road.
'No that's not the point,' Hermione continues calmly. 'My point is that Sam got a vision where you shot a guy. Is it even a good idea to go there. I mean if we don't go there the vision would never set in motion,'
Dean thinks for a moment. 'She's right,'
'Well if we don't go then we can't save them from whatever it is that's going on there,' Sam answers. Hermione looks out of the window. 'Well if Dean does shoot that guy and we don't save them, don't expect me to hold in an I told you so,'
'Fine!' Sam answers.

The Winchesters and Hermione pull into town past a large billboard advertising Crater Lake. They pull up in front of a wooden shop out on front is the older man from the vision cleaning his rifle. He wears a short-sleeved blue shirt with a multi-pocket brown vest. Sam, Dean and Hermione get out and approach him.
'Morning,' Dean starts.
'Good morning. Can I help you?' The man asks.
'Yeah,' Dean pulls out his badge. 'Uh, Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, Dusty Hill. U.S. Marshals,'
'What's this about?'
'We're looking for someone,' Dean explains.
'A young man, early twenties,' Sam explains as he describes the boy. He thinks back to the vision. 'He'd have a, a thin scar right below his hairline,'
'What'd he do?' The man asks.
'Well, nothing. We're actually looking for someone else, but we think this young man could help us,' Sam answers.
'Yeah, he's not in any kind of trouble or anything, well, not yet,' Dean adds. He glances down at the man's left arm, which shows a distinctive tattoo. 'I think maybe you know who he is...Master Sergeant,' Dean smilles. 'My dad was in the Corps, he was a Corporal,'
'What company?'
'Echo-2-1,'
'So can you help us?' Sam asks.
The man is hesitant. 'Duanne Tanner got a scar like that. But I know him. Good kid, keeps his nose clean,'
'Oh, I'm sure he does. Um. You know where he lives?' Dean responds.
'With his family, up Aspen Way,' The man answers.
'Thank you,' They leave. The man frowns as he watches them leave. Across the street, Sam bumps into a telephone pole and glances at it in passing. He stops. He looks better and notices a single word on it. Hermione and Dean notices Sam standing next to the pole and walk over towards him. Sam points at the word with a significant look.
'Croatoan?' Dean asks.
'Yeah,' Dean looks at Sam blankly. 'Roanoke? Lost colony? Ring a bell? Dean, did you pay any attention in history class?'
'Yeah! Shots heard around the world. How bills become laws...'
'That's not school, that's Schoolhouse Rock,' Sam interverse.
'Whatever,'
'Roanoke was one of the first English colonies in America, late 1500s,' Hermione explains.
'Oh yeah, yeah, I do remember that. The only thing they left behind was a single word carved in a tree. Croatoan,' Dean answers.
'Yeah. And I mean, there were theories─Indian raids, disease, but nobody knows what really happened. They were all just gone. I mean, wiped out overnight',' 'San ads.
'You don't think that's what's going on here, I mean...'
'Whatever I saw in my head, it sure wasn't good. But what do you think could do that?'
'Well, I mean, like I said, all of your weirdo visions are always tied to the Yellow-Eyed Demon somehow, so...'
'We should get help. Bobby, uh, Ellen maybe?' Sam suggests.
'Yeah, that's a good idea,' Dean pulls out his cell phone, then frowns at it. 'I don't have a signal,' Sam and Hermione do the same and shake their heads.
'I don't either,' Sam responds. They walk over to a phone. Dean picks it up a ''out of service'' beep comes through the hoorn. Dean clicks the receiver several times.
'Line's dead,' Dean says as he hangs up. 'I'll tell you one thing. If I was gonna massacre a town, that'd be my first step,'
