Hecate's Academy

Chapter 8

    Annette and Jacqueline met up with each other at the school before heading to the Amusement park together. The amusement park was in a secluded part of the forest; a sanctuary for monsters. The only thing was that the academy was on a floating island, suspended high above the clouds by powerful, ancient magic. Jacqueline was wearing his regular shorts and boots but this time he was wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt for once. Annette was wearing casual clothing as well. Her hair was tied into twin-tails and with every sudden movement they would bounce around like two springs atop her head.

They arrived at the Amusement park and Annette paid for her ticket while Jacqueline went inside. Annette was let in after paying. She followed closely behind him looking for Charlotte. Annette noticed Charlotte standing next to a bench looking around for Jacqueline.

"Do you see Charlotte anywhere?" Jacqueline asked.

"Nope! Maybe she's waiting farther ahead? Or she could've ditched you. That sounds like something she'd do." Anette said with some salt.

"I don't think she would just ditch me like that." He responded.

Suddenly Charlotte noticed Jacqueline. She ran over to him with a happy look on her face.

"Hey! Jacqueli-..." Her smile faded as she saw Annette. "What is she doing here?"

"Oh, I invited her along. I hope that's not a problem."

"Yeah! He invited me to protect him from you!"

After speaking this, Annette grabbed Jacqueline's hand as if she were marking him as her territory. Jacqueline started to turn red as a heavy blush spread across his face. A disgusted look started to appear on Charlotte.

"A-Annette! What're you doing?!"

"I'm protecting you!"

Charlotte scoffed, "He isn't yours to protect."

"What did you say?!" She replied angrily.

"You heard me!"

Charlotte walked closer to Annette in a threatening manner but Annette was not backing down.

"U-uh... i'll go get us some shaved ice!" Jacqueline said quickly as he hurried away from the catfight about to happen.

"See! You scared him off!"

"No you did!"

They both then scoffed and looked away from each other. After a bit of time, Charlotte turned back around and glared at Annette.

"I told you to stay away from him. Do you know what happens to people that disobey me?"

Annette started to sweat a bit as Charlotte stepped closer.

"He doesn't even like you!" Annette yelled.

"No! He doesn't even like you! Yet you cling to him like he does! He probably hates that! You should just leave him alone!"

"No! I can't just leave him! Even if he rejects me, i'm going to keep trying! B-because I like him!"

After hearing this, Charlotte smacked Annette across the face.

"Can't you just give it up?!"

Annette smacked her back, "I said no!!"

The girls continued to fight while Jacqueline was away.
