Chapter 5

Annette bounded towards Jacqueline's locker but, unfortunately, he was not there. She decided to wait for him.

"Huh... guess his classes are taking longer than usual..." She said to herself.

Suddenly a figure approached her. It was the werewolf girl again. Annette looked at Charlotte and was about to speak up when Charlotte stuck her arms out against the locker and cornered Annette.

"Wh-wha-" Annette was cut off.

"Keep away from Jacqueline. He doesn't even like you. He's scared of you. So, you should stop bothering him." Charlotte glared at Annette menacingly.

"You have no right to tell me what to do!" She pouted

Charlotte slammed her hand against the locker. Annette jumped in surprise.

"Listen here you brat..." She raised a fist.

"Now now, that's enough." A voice came from behind Charlotte.

Charlotte spun around in surprise to face the mysterious person. He was a young man with shaggy black hair, horns coming out of his head, and a little imp's tail. She lowered her fist in surprise.

"H-huh?" She paused. "Who are you?! What business do you have here?!"

"That's for me to know and for you to find out!" He gave a large grin.

"Don't get cocky with me."

Suddenly the boy turned to the hallway.

"Hey! Jacqueline! She's over here!" He yelled down the hall.

"H-huh? Jacqueline? Crap..." Charlotte ran the other direction and retreated.

Annette dusted herself off. She looked down the hall where "Jacqueline" was. Except, there was no one to be found. She turned back to the boy.

"That was a bluff wasn't it?"

He didn't even answer, he just smiled.

"Care to explain to me how you know Jackie?"

"Jeez, a little thank you would be nice."

Annette sighed. "Thank you."

"It was my pleasure!"

Suddenly, the real Jacqueline came down the halls carrying his books. He spotted Annette and shrunk away a bit. Eek! Is she trying to ambush me at my locker? He tried to turn back but then he spotted someone else. Is that? Oh no no no no!

Annette noticed Jacqueline and gasped.

"Jackie!!" She said energetically.

Jacqueline ignored her and went straight up to the boy.

"Why are you here?" Jacqueline said with some angst.

"Can't I go to the same school as you?"

"Kristen! You know you could..." He glanced at Annette and lowered his voice, "spill it."

"Relax! Relax! I'm not gonna say anything!" He responded nonchalantly.

"Say what?" Annette asked innocently.

"Nothing!" Jacqueline replied quickly. He then turned back to Kristen and pushed Kristen away.

"Kristen has to get going but I'll be back in a sec!"

"H-hey! That's no way to treat your childhood friend!"

"Get going."

Kristen ran off and Jacqueline hurried back to Annette.

"Sorry about that! Was he bothering you?" "Nope! Anyway, school is over now. Will you go out with me?"
