Chapter Five: Maybe Just Friends
After that, Logan decided to take me home. I didn't mind. Everything was going perfect. I didn't want to spoil any more of the fun.
As we pulled up, I looked at my house and saw a shadow cross my window. I didn't think much of it. It was probably my mom waiting for me or some thing.
"Now that I know where you live, I'll probably stalk you all the time," Logan said with a laugh.
"I don't mind. I like stalkers. Especially cute ones," I said with a wink.
"Cool. I'll see you tomorrow, I guess," Logan said.
"Of course. The only time I'm missing school is if I'm dead or caught Ebola," I said with an eye roll.
"Alright then. See ya later," Logan said.
I could tell that Logan sounded a little sad so I gave him a kiss on the forehead before closing the door behind me and walking off. Unlocking my house door, I stepped inside but the house was silent.
"Mom? Dad?" I called.
There was no answer so I threw my backpack on the floor and ran upstairs to my room. Expecting peace and quiet, I opened the door quickly and screamed.
Hunter was there, reading The Hunger Games.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
Hunter threw the book behind him and stood up from where he had been laying on my bed.
"I'm begging for forgiveness," Hunter answered.
"Forgiveness? You are a trip, Hunter," I said, rolling my eyes as I walked past him to throw my shoes in the closet.
"I'm being serious, Ana. I admit I was an ass to Logan today. It was only me being jealous. But if you forgive me, I'll be eternally in your debt," Hunter replied.
"Eternally in my debt, huh? I like that. But first, I'm eating," I said, walking out of the room.
"You guys didn't eat out on your date?" Hunter asked.
"We did. But it wasn't much. We went to Fun Land, though. I asked him if we can go and he just said Yeah. He was so sweet about the whole thing. Even when I kicked his butt at Super Mario Kart, which is my game. After that, we-," I began to say.
"What?" Hunter asked.
I just couldn't bring myself to talk about Logan and I kissing on the beach. It was something I wanted to keep to myself.
"You guys didn't have sex, did you?" Hunter asked, blocking me from the kitchen.
"No!" I exclaimed, "We just...sorta....maybe kissed."
"Sharing your kisses around. It breaks my heart," Hunter said.
"No, it breaks your boner. Excuse me," I said, pushing past him.
"That too. What ya making?" Hunter asked.
"I'm microwaving last night's chicken alfredo. That I made. Myself," I answered.
"Oh my gerd!!! Give me some! You know that's my favorite thing you've ever made," Hunter exclaimed.
"Quiet down, bro. Relax yourself. I'm doing two dishes but since you're eternally in my debt, I get more," I replied.
"The things I say when I have a boner," Hunter groaned, smacking his forehead.
I laughed and in a matter of six minutes, Hunter and I were eating.
"Slow down, big boy," I say with a laugh.
"I can't. You are amazing," Hunter said, mouth full.
I smiled. I liked these types of moments. Before the other night. When we were just friends. But now we were maybe just friends. At least, when he wasn't trying to have sex with me on the regular.
"Uh-oh, Ana's thinking. The world's about to explode," Hunter replied.
"Ha ha. Very funny. But seriously, can I ask you something. And please be honest cuz it's been bugging me for a while," I said.
"Shoot," Hunter replied.
"Do you think if what happened to us the other night never happened would we still be friends?" I asked.
"No. Somehow, someway it would've happened. Whether you or I would've liked it. That's my honest opinion," Hunter answered.
"Oh. Ok," I said.
Whether you or I would've liked it. The words rang through my head like an annoying ringtone.
"Are you upset? I was being honest like you asked me too," Hunter said.
"No. I just didn't expect that answer, that's all," I answered.
It was silent for a while till I got up and took my plate into the kitchen. I placed into the sink. Then, out of nowhere, I felt like crying. I just wanted my old life back. Before complicated friendships and all of this madness occupied.
I didn't see Hunter come up behind me. He grabbed my waist and trailed my neck with kisses. My breath hitched in my throat and I turned to kiss Hunter.
Realizing what I was doing, I broke away and pushed away from Hunter.
"I'm really tired," I lied.
I turned to walk off and managed to make it up the stairs. I went into my room and was about to close the door when Hunter opened the door behind me.
Before I could push him off again, he pulled me close and kissed me. I was utterly defenseless. I wanted to be defenseless. And I know that sounds crazy. But in case you didn't notice, the whole situation was crazy.
He ripped off my sweater and I took off his shirt. We went onto my bed and as Hunter kissed me, I kissed back with all the passion I felt at that exact moment.
Damn it, I loved it. And maybe I loved Hunter.
Maybe just friends wasn't good enough for the both of us.
