'Why does everybody end up leaving me?' Katsuki wondered, staring at the newly added security cameras on the rooftop. It stared back at him.
No blind stops whatsoever. He sighed. 'I can't smoke here anymore... damnit...'
"Why the hell is it that I'm alone but everybody's looking at me?" Katsuki asked to the camera. The lens of the camera had a black sheen on the glass, giving him almost a mocking response.
He glared at the camera harder, almost like he was having a staring contest with it. He wanted to punch it right then and there.
"Are you talking to security cameras now?"
By the tone, Katsuki knew that whoever it was, they were judging them. He turned his body around, now looking at Todoroki's blue and gray eyes.
"Got a problem with it, Icyhot?"
Todoroki stepped closer, turning his head to the camera, then looking back.
An eye was staring at them, for reasons they knew, and reasons they hated.
"Does the camera also make you feel shītty?" Katsuki asked. "People are always watching me... it's so..." his hand clenched. "Frustrating."
People have always watched him. Whether it was one reason or another, disappointment, jealousy, amazement, Katsuki had always been a topic. Looked up to at school for his quirk, looked down on at home for never being good enough. He could feel his former best friend, like he was watching too.
Yet nobody actually reached out. Except Deku.
"Frustrating..." Todoroki repeated.
"But... now I feel.... better." Katsuki said.
Those words. He never thought he'd ever say those words. That his life would actually get better, brighter. They were so unfamiliar, but so welcoming.
"I could never get past Deku's death. He was the only person I could relate to. I could connect with. I wanted to find meaning in his death, why he died. It dug at me all my damn life. I'm not happy, and I never will be because of that."
Katsuki stared at his hand. "But... I think that if I clung onto him too hard, I could never let go. My life would be constantly revolving around him."
He looked at Todoroki. "I think... that you made me realize I don't have to rely on just one person."
Todoroki's eyes widened. Katsuki couldn't tell what he was thinking.
"...You're crying."
"Huh?" Katsuki touched his cheek. He looked away. "Shut the fućk up Icyhot, I'm not crying!"
Todoroki watched the security camera intensely. "Are you going to try harder to connect more with the rest of the class?"
"That's the plan," Katsuki said. "They're already pushy with being friends with me, so I guess I'm going to have to try doing the same."
"It's almost like you're a different person," Todoroki commented. "But I feel the same. I'm glad I got to be your friend. I think you inspired me as well... I want to stand up to my father."
The blond blinked. "Looks like we both have stuff we need to do. Don't be like me if shìt goes wrong though."
Todoroki nodded.
Katsuki paused. "Tell me how it goes. Also, I heard you talking to our classmates. I think that talk'll make it easier for me to connect better."
