UA Student Attempts Suicide?

Student "Bakugo Katsuki" Tries To End His Life

Nezu switched through the various news channels all broadcasting the same story. 'What could have caused Bakugo to attempt suicide? Could it have been abuse? It would make sense considering the severe neglection of vital nutrients when we examined his health. He never mentioned his parents before, and he never seemed to come to class with any fresh wounds. He might've covered it up, if that's the case.'

His office door opened. Aizawa walked inside. "Nezu, we investigated the house and came up with this," He slammed a thick file onto the desk. "Tsukauchi said that Bakugo's parents were 'too heartbroken' to answer any questions, so we're doing that hopefully in the next few days. However we have evidence of abuse, and we're planning on arresting the two once everything has been thoroughly analyzed."

Nezu sifted through the papers. Shots of the house, mainly the basement, were attached to written documents. He stopped at one page. "No signs of depression or self-harm?"

Aizawa put his hand to his chin. "Well, when he wasn't screaming at his classmates he's always seemed a little apathetic. He's also flinched whenever he's gotten anything lower than 90%. I've always ignored that because I thought he was aiming higher, but he gets more tired the next day..."

The UA principal looked up. "You've really taking a liking to this years class. If it weren't for this situation, I would be happier." 

"What makes you say that?"

"Well for one thing, you've never paid this much attention or care to any class. Any other year you would've expelled a student for being absent for almost a month." Nezu replied. He looked at another page. The erasure-quirk user huffed.

Traumatized after seeing his best friend, [Midoriya Izuku] commit [suicide]. Been more [reclusive] and [violent] afterwards, according to students and teachers. Broke down sometimes in the middle of class.

He studied the document harder. "Midoriya? That's quirkless middle schooler who barely got any recognition... So that's how he came to be so secluded from other people..." He sipped some tea, and offered some to the homeroom teacher. "Everything is fitting so well it's like puzzle pieces coming together."

"Poor kid, you never know what's happening behind closed doors." Aizawa said, accepting the drink. 

"We still don't know if they actually are abusing him." Nezu said. "Looking at this evidence though, they might as well just come out already," he paused. "Evidence that he smoked?" His eyes trailed over another sheet.

"We suspect he's also been smoking here at school," Aizawa said. "I guess we've never looked close enough, but there are many blind spots on the roof. He's been going there sporadically, and soon Todoroki also joins with him. We're thinking of questioning him."

"Todoroki has a high chance of knowing something."

Todoroki sat expressionlessly at a table with his classmates. The heavy, draping air around them hadn't left, but there were more conversations that made the table a bit more lively.

He was there for the sake of punishing himself. Of course, it wasn't as if his classmates would say anything bad about him. The heavy weight of seeing his friend's pained looks and fake cheerfulness is what tortured him.

He felt guilty because he could have said something, done something. Instead, he just listened Bakugo's problems without making an effort to help him. Maybe he could've prevented this.

Turning away from Todoroki, the news of Katsuki spread like wildfire. It was all over the news channels and papers. Whenever a UA student was recognized, audible whispers of the suicide followed them around.

And of course, the biggest storm of rumors and gossip was UA itself. The topic was so sensitive not even Monoma commented on it. For once, the other classes weren't jealous of all the attention the hero course.

Todoroki took in the pressure and guilt around him like a sponge. His stoic expression blocked off all hints of pain from everybody else. His classmates also took part in the guilt, hating themselves for Katsuki's unnoticed suffering. It's not like they could've realized, though.

With lunch ending, Todoroki stood up monotonously and started walking to the 1-A classroom. He slid open the door, soon facing Aizawa who waiting for him. 

"Todoroki, I need to talk to you."Aizawa told him, unzipping his sleeping bag. 

"What for?"

He grabbed a folder of black-and-white photos. He handed them to the student. "It's a pile of security footage screenshots."

Todoroki quickly scanned every picture. "That's me and Bakugo on the roof..." he realized. They figured something out. His heart started beating faster.

"That's right," Aizawa said. He faced Todoroki in the eye. "So tell me, what connection did you have with Bakugo?"
