Annabeth

I woke up and put some waffles in the toaster. Then, I ran upstairs and got on a nice tee shirt and some navy blue jeans on. I ate my waffles and checked my phone. There was an unread text. It was from Seaweed Brain himself.
S- Btw I have a little brother that will be here.
I smiled at the thought of Percy being a big brother. It seemed right.
W- can't wait to meet him 😊
S- see you later!
W- I'll be there!
I put down my phone after I had finished my waffles and brushed my teeth. It was eleven now so I headed to Percy's.
I knocked at his door and I heard the door unlock. The door opened and standing there was a smiling Percy.
"Come on in." He bowed and gestured inside.
Looking in the apartment I could see a kitchen a table and a couch with a tv and a coffee table. On the coffee table we're mini cars and trucks all different colors and sizes. A little boy looked back at me from the table. He quickly got up and smiled.
"Hi! Are you Annabeth? Percy's girlfrie-"
Percy cut in quickly.
"My friend. This is my friend Annabeth."
I laughed.
"You must be Tyson. I've heard a lot about you."
His eyebrows furrowed
"Like what?"
I smirked.
"Well you like trucks, cars, and anything with wheels."
His smile got even bigger.
"I do! Wanna see them!?" He jumped up and down and grabbed my hand. Percy gave me a sorry look but I shrugged it off. Tyson was being a little brother.
"Of course I would! Let me say hi to your momma first ok?"
"Ok! I'll get them set up!"
He ran off towards the couch and started sorting the cars.
A woman with brown hair making cookies was in the kitchen. She stopped when she saw me and took off her apron.
"You must be Annabeth I've heard a lot about you."
"Oh really?" I looked back at Percy who was rubbing his neck nervously.
"I've heard a ton about you Mrs. Jackson. You've really got a mommas boy who loves you that's for sure." She laughed and gave a warm smile. She looked at my arm. Dang it. I had forgotten to hide my scars. She took my arm and put a little medicine on a washcloth. She took the washcloth and dabbed my arm with it. The scars faded and I was only left with small marks.
"You may not be mine, but your in my house and you don't get to be sad right now." She gave me a look of sass. I could see the resemblance to Percy's sass.
"I'm not Mrs. Jackson. I promise."
"Call me Sally sweetheart!"
"Thank you, Sally."
She gave another warm smile before Tyson came to the kitchen and dragged me and Percy to the table.
"Wanna play?" He pleaded.
"How do you play?" His smile widened as he spoke the very intense rules. I listened to every word and got a good grasp in the concept.
"I would love to play!" He let out a small squeal.
Percy was smiling really big and Tyson handed him a green car.
"What's your favorite color Beth?"
Percy gave a disapproving look to Tyson and I whispered to him. "Your brother is adorable. Don't worry."
"My favorite color is grey."
He picked up a shiny silver car and handed it to me.
"Here! Now we can start!"
We all played for a while and had a fun time. Then Tyson grabbed Percy's car and started running around. Percy stood up and started chasing Tyson around the room. Tyson hid behind me and I pretended to fend Percy off. I said "Run!" To Tyson and he bolted away giggling hysterically. Percy had a smirk and wrapped his arms around my waist. Then he started to tickle me. I started running towards Tyson and scooped him up running through the house away from Percy. Percy caught up to Tyson and me and grabbed Tyson. He flipped him upside down and tickled him. Sally came in the room to see what the big commotion was about and we all stopped and blushed, holding in our laughter.
"You seem to be having fun."
We were all out of breath and Tyson just nodded. Then he let out a huge yawn.
"Looks like it's nap time bud." Sally said.
"Percy can you?" She nodded in Tyson's direction.
"Sure." Percy picked Tyson up and mouthed
"I'll be right back." to me. Tyson stopped and looked at me. "Can Beth come too? Please?"
"I don't think Annabeth wants to-" I cut Percy off.
"Sure Tyson I'm fine with it." He had a big smile as Percy lied him on his bed.
He hugged on Percy and Percy rubbed his back.
He fell asleep quickly and started a small snore.
Me and Percy carefully got up and closed Tyson's door behind us.
"Sorry about him. He's just exited to have someone new come." He rubbed his neck again.
"Why are you sorry? He's just being a little kid."
I smiled and tried to reassure him.
"How are you so good with little kids? Do you have a little sibling?"
"No, but I did babysit a lot in San-Francisco. Also I am a little sister, so I know what it's like."
He smiled.
"Your ticklish too." He smirked.
"Shush. Don't tell anyone."
"Promise I won't." He crossed his heart.
"Swear on the River Stix?" I raised my eyebrows.
"I swear."
We both laughed and walked into his room.
"Wanna play?" He held up a Nintendo Switch game controller.
"Prepare to be beaten Jackson." I said as I sat on the bed.
We played super smash until Percy's mom called us into the kitchen. I noticed a plate of odd looking cookies on the counter. We're they? Blue?
"I have to go to sleep for work but if you need anything I'm here, ok?" We both nodded and Percy grabbed a few cookies off the plate. He handed one to me. "My moms cookies are the best! Try one."
He must have noticed my confusion of the blue color. "Oh, they're blue because one night, Gabe said no food was blue, and my mom got back at him by making everything she bakes blue. It's become a big joke in our family, and everything is better when it's blue." I smiled at the story and took a bite.
"This is the best form of rebellion ever." I covered my mouth as I chewed.
"Your mom is awesome."
He smiled.
"Yea she really is. What's your dad like?"
I finished my cookie and brushed my hands off.
"He travels a lot but when I do get to see him he's a great dad. But he has bad taste in step-mothers."
He chuckled a little.
"No joke."
We both nodded.
He grabbed the plate. "Wanna go in the tree?"
"Sure."
He handed my the cookies as he stepped onto the piece of plywood. Then I handed him the plate and he set them down.
"This really is a nice hiding spot."
He shook his head like he was trying to forget something.
"Yea it- it is."

Percy

I helped Annabeth into the tree and she was beautiful. Even with nothing fancy on. She just was naturally that way. It was one of the reasons I liked her so much. She was beautiful just being herself.
She spoke and I shook my head trying to bring myself back to focus.
"Yea it- it is."
She took another cookie off the plate.
"When me and Thalia were little, we found this huge tree and always went there and climbed. Sometimes Luke would come too but not always." I knew I shouldn't ask but my curiosity got the best of me.
"How do you know Thalia and Luke?"
She sighed. "It's a long story, are you sure you want to hear it?"
"We have time don't we?"
She sat up and put her hands in her lap.
"When I was six, my mom died. My family felt broken. So one day, when no one was looking I grabbed a hammer out of the garage and ran away.
I was walking down an alleyway when Luke and Thalia appeared. Luke said we could be family. And me and Thalia believed him. It was all good until Thalia started liking Luke. They started dating, and being the little sister of the group I felt a little left out. I had liked Luke too but hadn't told anyone. Then when they broke up after he cheated, he asked me on a date. And being the lovesick idiot that I was, I said yes. Then when Luke moved to New York after Thalia, he cheated on me with Drew."
She looked sad.
"Wow that's- that's awful. I'm so sorry. I know how it feels to loose a parent."
"What?"
"My dad went away at sea before Tyson was born. He got ship recked and was lost in the ocean."
"I'm, so sorry."
She gave me a tight hug. It felt good in her arms. I hugged her back resting my chin on her forehead.
We sat there for a while just the two of us. Holding each other. Maybe I did like Annabeth. No, I definitely like Annabeth. But do I like her like that? I wiped the thought out of my mind and remembered we were hugging. I picked my head up and looked down at her. She pulled away and wiped a small tear off her cheek.
"Sorry!" She shook her head. "I don't cry often."
"Why are you sorry? Please talk to me about things. If you ever want to talk just call or text me ok? Don't keep your feelings bottled up like that."
She half smiled.
"I'll keep that in mind."
We both shared a smile as we talked in the tree for hours.
Later, we had a nerf gun fight and just had fun. We were both pretty thirsty so we went to get some water from the fridge.
We were both laughing really hard walking in.
"Ok, so your telling me that you have never used a pickup line before that night?"
"No. I actually did use one when I was little."
"Can I hear the story?"
"I'd thought you'd never ask."
She grabbed two cups from the cabinet and filled them with water, periodically laughing at young Percy's smoothness. (Or lack of)
She turned around and handed one of the glasses to me. As she was taking a sip I made a joke and she accidentally spilled water on herself.
"Dang it." She grabbed some paper towels off the counter to wipe some of the water off.
I ran to my room to get my swim hoodie.
"Here. In case your cold." I realized what I had just done. "I mean- if you.. umm.." My cheeks got redder and redder as I stumbled to create sentences.
She just smiled, grabbed the hoodie and put it on.
"Thanks." Her cheeks heated up a small bit.
"No problem." It was cute seeing her in my hoodie.
It was too big for her and the sleeves covered her hands.
She looked at her phone. "It's 9:00 I should umm..."
"Well I'll see you tomorrow!" She smiled really wide.
Then we heard a cry. It was from Tyson's room.
We both bolted down the hallway to see Tyson crying in a ball on his bed. We both lied down on ether side of him.
"Shh. It's ok. We're here." She rubbed his back.
He turned around and held onto her. She held him close and started singing Tonight You Belong To Me.
We both just held him close. He started to calm down and in between sniffs said, "Can" sniff,  "You" sniff, "stay Beth?"
She thought for a second.
"Yea I'll stay."
He relaxed in her arms. And my eyes felt heavy. I saw Annabeth'a eyes start to close. I smiled and lied my head down on a pillow. I let my eyes shut as I held onto Tyson. Smiling, I fell into a quiet sleep.
