You find yourself unable to enter the Entrance Hall due to a large crowd of students congregated there. A large sign is erected at the foot of the marble staircase.

𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭.

'That's only a week away, I wonder if Cedric knows I'll go tell him now...' Your thoughts are interrupted by Cedric.

"What the hell is going on" he groans.

"It's about tri wizard tournament, I was about to come and find you to tell you" You smile up at him and he smiles back.

"Students from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang are arriving on the 30th" You tell him as you both walk away from the crowd, accepting defeat. You know your not gonna get through there so you and Ced head to the hufflepuff Common room.

The appearance on the sign in the Entrance Hall had made an effect on the whole castle. During the next week the topic of all conversations had been none other than the tri wizard tournament. Rumours spread from student to student like wildfire: what the tournament would involve, who was going to try out for Hogwarts champion, who is coming from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang.

You also noticed that the castle was going through a very thorough cleaning. All of the windows were spotless and the suits of armour were suddenly gleaming.

The teachers were acting oddly jittery, too. Proffessor McGonagall barked at Neville when he couldn't perform a simple switching spell and told him not to reveal it in front of anyone from Durmstrang.

When October 30th finally came around you went down to the great Hall for breakfast and found it had been decorated the night before. Massive silk banners, each representing a hogwarts house, hung from the walls: red with a golden lion for griffindor, green with a silver serpant for slytherin, yellow with a black badger for hufflepuff and blue with a bronze raven for ravenclaw. Behind the teachers table hung the largest banner with the Hogwarts shield on it: a lion, serpant, badger and Eagle placed around a big letter H.

You find Luna and Cho sat together at the ravenclaw table, Cedric is sat alone at the hufflepuff table beckoning you over.

"Hey y/n, do you want some soup" he says slowly reaching for the ladle waiting for you to say yes before grabbing you a bowl.

"Oh no, I'm good" you say reaching for a plate to put some chicken wings on.

You take a bite and then look up at Cedric, his big brown eyes searching the table for more food,"are you gonna try and get into the tri wizard tournament?"
