Chapter 7/The loss
He could smell it from his room, it was the very strong scent of blood coming from his father's room, which reminded him of the night he lost everything, not everything, he still had his father. It must be another nightmare or just one of his hallucinations again. He found himself stood at the door his dad's room & kept questioning himself for a while instead of going into the room and checked it for himself that nothing really happened to his father. He was so scared of going into the room thinking of another possibility of losing his only family in the world. He struggled a lot before he called his father, "Dad, is everything alright?, you haven't eaten anything for dinner, right, so I make some supper for you. Why don't you come out and eat with me? Dad!"
"Dad, Dad?"
There was no answer from the room, he knew his father fell into a deep depression, as a result of the recent events. Sakumo and his team were sent on a mission of great importance to the nation which he failed a mission by deciding to go back and save his friends instead of completing the mission. He heard the mission was vital to Konoha and it was essential to stop a coming war from erupting between Konoha and other countries.
After the mission, every villagers had lost every drop of respect for his father who was the legendary ninja, it was quite a shock to see his father being called as disgraced not only by the villagers, also even by comrades he saved. Kakashi knew the residents of Konoha were whispering horrible things about him and even Kakashi was getting bad vibes from them many times. Sakumo was suffering another major blow just months after the massacre of his own clan and family.
By the time Kakashi opened the door, he had come to face his father body lying in the blood. He tried to wake his father but Sakumo was long gone, his father eventually committed suicide and chose death over him. How can he leave him like that? He had no other family besides his father? How dare he give up so easily? Who cared he's disgrace? Kakashi was so distraught that he couldn't think anything clearly, he didn't know how long he'd been standing besides his father's dead body till someone shook him to wake him up.
"Kakashi, Kakashi, look at me!"
Oh! It was Jiraiya trying to waking him up from his despair. Jiraiya and some Anbu were here, they were talking to him but he wasn't able to understand anything at the time. He couldn't even shed a single tears at his father funeral. He felt like he was empty and unable to feel anything.
It was not long since his father's funeral, he was asked if he wanted to go to foster care. He stated firmly at the time, "I can take care of myself, I am also a full fledge shinobi now. I will live myself."
The looks of pity in the people eyes made him feel disgusted. His father couldn't stand the thought of him getting treated as some sort of disgraced or criminal because of his actions. Sakumo didn't want his son to be treated this way his whole life coz he inadvertently caused the great ninja war, so he probably decided that it would just be better if he disappeared by committing Seppuku as a way to save the honor of his family and clan. It was funny to think how his legendary ninja father just once broke the ninja rules and ended up like this. He was determined not to make the same mistakes as his father did. He understood why his father chose death over him, but he still hated his father for leaving him alone. He would definitely get stronger and get the honour of Hatake clan back.

At age 6, Kakashi was promoted to Chunin rank.
"Why did you kill all of them? You don't need to kill every one.", one of his teammates shouted at him, with the tears of fury and frustration at the bloodied aftermath scene of the battle.
