The next day, Mirae did the most sensible thing.
She skipped school.
She found herself alone in her brother's (and practically her) apartment when she woke up in the morning. Changbin left a note on the fridge telling her that he had early classes and will be going to a class gathering later that evening. Rest of the note was a mini tutorial on 'how to not destroy the apartment'. She remembered her second week in the apartment when her brother found a pan which looked like a weapon from hell (because of the burnt ramen stick to it) and her standing on a stool trying to blow the smoke away from the fire alarm. She had fell down when her brother had barged into the kitchen screaming on the top of his lungs. But she was someone who learnt from her mistakes and nothing like this happened again.
Excluding the close encounter she had when her feet got entangled in the vacuum cleaner's wire and she almost fell out of her bedroom window. She didn't tell Changbin about this or he would nag her about how their parents are right about not letting her live on her own. but she is a very stubborn girl.
She wore her uniform but instead of turning to the direction in which her school is, she went in the opposite direction. She hoped that she doesn't encounter anyone who knows her or her brother.
after spending some time at a park where she texted with Yeji who continuously complained how lonely she felt and almost got beaten up by some seniors, she decided to go and watch a movie or something. During her chat with Yeji, She told her that things were strangely normal at school but she warned her that this could be the silence before the upcoming storm. According to her no one was talking about her or what happened yesterday. She didn't even saw the Royals. Mirae wondered if they are here outside still looking for her.
She went to see a horror movie. Believe it or not, but she is a sucker for horror and thriller genre. She has never been affected by the horror stuff. After the movie she went to her cafe. She skipped school but she couldn't skip her shift at the cafe. It may be a low paying job but she still needed some money. She was planning to save as much as possible for the future.
She dreaded that the Dreamies would show up again at the cafe but suprisingly they didn't and all went very smoothly. Minus her constant bickering with Hyunjin.
She was really tired after all the walking so she decided to take bus to go home. Changbin said that he will come late so she must go home early. She was walking towards the bus stop when she heard some footsteps following her from behind. She tried to not think of the worst scenarios but still she was ready run or shout when needed.
She glanced behind her and saw a middle-aged man silently following her. He looked up and their eyes met. She quickly turned her head towards the front and started walking faster. To her horror, he also quickened his step and continued following her. There was no one around her when she looked around to ask someone for help.
Until the bus stop came into view and she saw a boy around her brother's age standing there with headphones. He was looking at his phone when she ran to him and held his arm. She tried to plead with her eyes and motioned behind her, where the man came to halt when he saw the other boy.
" I think someone's following me, can you act as my brother for sometime?" she said breathlessly. He seemed to be startled at first to see a random girl in a school uniform suddenly holding his arm in the street but then he heard her request and looked at the man behind her. He seemed suspicious to him also. He gently smiled at the girl and held her hand.
"Sis! what took you so long?" He played along.
"I am sorry I made you wait but now let's go home" She said and tried to say show how much grateful she is through her eyes. The man stood their for a minute and changed his way when he saw the boy who glared at him continuously.
