Chapter SIXTEEN!

I woke up on Damons couch… I must have fallen asleep there last night from being so exhausted the night before. All the events replayed in my mind; Finding out Elena lied, being taken hostage by 2 of my so called family members, how scared I was to lose them only to end up being abandoned by them after it was over. 

I checked my phone and had seen I had a missed call and a voicemail left on my phone from late last night. Deciding to humor myself I pressed the play button and listened to this “Hello Aurora, I know last night must have been difficult for you… I do apologize for the way everything turned out. I say that I am a man of morals and nobility when in fact I have stooped down to my family's level. It was a gift to see the person you are even if for just the small chance I had but it has also made me realize how different you are. Know that when I say different, I mean good,  just like your mother. Be good Aurora … you are a gift to those around you, be the moral and noble one I once was. I will remember you …forever and always. Maybe one day we will see each other again soon” and then it clicked and went staticy.

I was shocked. So shocked I bolted up, took a shot to calm me down and rushed out the door. I ran as fast as I could until I was at the Originals mansion. I stared at it for a few moments not sure of why I was exactly there but I left just as quickly. I wasn't ready to know the truth that I feared … was he gone or was he just gone out of my life…

I ran and ended up running directly into Matt and Elena in her neighborhood, they were on a run too.

“Aurora, hey … how are you?” Elena asked unsure how to approach me

“I don't really want to talk about it Elena” I said in a not so nice voice that she picked up and understood … I still hadn't got to hear her side of the story… but right now I didn't want to. Elenas phone started ringing and she answered to Sheriff Forbes telling her Ric was in the jail.

“Okay I'll be right there” and she hung up “I've got to go see whats up with Ric, he's being held at the jail apparently. I'll catch up with yous later…” and she ran off leaving me and Matt. We stood there awkwardly not knowing how to be around each other

“So how've you been …” He broke the silence.

“Sorting out my stuff, just like you wanted me too..” I said back in some sort of mood all of a sudden, maybe it was just me realizing how crappy my life was at the moment.

“Doesn't sound too good… wanna talk about it?” he offered.

“I don't wanna talk … “ I said back

“Well we could keep running… but honestly I don’t know how much farther I can go” he continued breathing heavily.

“Race to the quarry? Then we can talk…” I offered and he let out a small smile and we both started running.

By the time we got there Matt was completely out of breath. He let his body drop onto the cold earth and I waited for him to catch his breath.

“Your slacking Matty” I joked and sat down by him.

“Not all of us have supernatural abilities to keep us from getting winded” he retorted.

“Yeah well not even superspeed can get me away from my problems…” and he looked up at me.

“Everything going ok with Elijah?” he asked sitting up to face me. Matt was always so attentive and knew when to let things go and be a friend, even though I could never just be his friend it was nice to have him to talk to.

“Elijahs gone … well I don't know that for sure, I couldn’t bring myself to knock on the door because I'm too afraid of the answer..” I sighed in frustration.
