Falling,

Falling,

Falling.

You readied yourself to hit the ground,

But nothing happened.

Opening your eyes, you saw two, piercing red eyes staring back at you, filled with worry and fear.

Obsidian had caught you.

My heart stopped, muscles not daring to move until I knew he was safe. Seeing his eyes open, I knew he was alive, but what if I didn't catch him early enough? What if he hit his head and got injured. I remembered when I first attacked him, feeling the fear and frustration leave me, replaced with power and joy. ButbI was not that dinosaur anymore. (Y/n) taught me how to control myself, how to be strong when life got heavy, to be the one light in an endless darkness. If he died, it would all be over. I couldn't live without him, I refused to.

I couldn't let him die.

Seeing (y/n) fall from the ceiling to the Indoraptor's arms, I had to know he was okay. Owen had told me to watch out for this thing, and now, he laid down in its arms, limp.

No, No, No! I was such an idiot! My last for power and blood got (y/n) hurt, now he'll hate me forever, if he even survives. A fall like that would kill anyone. But looking down, I saw Obsidian holding him. He had caught him! Rushing away from the little girl, I ran down to the room they were in and slowly approached.

Snapping back to reality, I saw Obsidian turn his head and growl, holding me away from something. I looked iver and saw Ripper, trying to get closer.

Ripper. The dinosaur who got me in this situation.

(Y/n)- Obsidian, put me down. Let me see Ripper.

Obsidian whined in protest, but argeed, putting me down and standing me up.

As Rippwr got closer and closer, I could feel his breath, his gaze.

His fear.

Acknowledging his feelings, I stood my ground, not moving an inch from his form, still staring into those devilish eyes. He got right in front of me and kept his eyes on me, looking at me with such anxiety and stress.

But then, a new roar. One I've never heard before.

Blue.

Blue- Get away from him you monster!

Ripper- Please, you have to understand, I-

Blue- No! If it weren't for you he wouldn't have fallen, this is your fault and yours only!

Ripper- Please, I can explain, if you'd just let me-

Blue- I said shut up! You don't deserve any chances. You're a freak, something never intended to exist, a monstrosity created by those more powerful than us!

Stepping between him and (y/n) I snarled at him, ready to fight another hybrid of destruction.

Ripper- Please, I need to see him, he's all I have. Obsidian, tell her.

Obsidian- I've been with (y/n) my whole life. I know better than anyone what trust and fear are. I first attacked (y/n) when we first met for real, and I've regretted it ever since. And Ripper...

He's genuine.

Hearing Blue calm down, I walked around her side, stepping towards the one thing I feared most.

"I forgive you."

They, forgive me? After all of this, just like that? But, I...

I'm a monster. Could they really mean that?

Obsidian- Go ahead, test it, put your head out.

Putting my snout towards them, I expected a pinch, a slap, anything other than what they did.

I hugged Ripper's snout, crying into his face like I'd never cried before. Feeling his slick, armored scales, his hot breath, his shuddering body.

"I mean it."

I opened my eyes to see Ripper crying as well, tears of happiness flowing down his jaws, his yellow, blood stained teeth being washed by the river flooding down his face.

Knowing that I had his trust, I let go and turned to look at Blue.

(Y/n)- So, I'm guessing Owen sent you?

She nodded before looking at all of us one last time and ran off, presumably into the forest to live free once again.

(Y/n)- Now, my boys, let's go home, we've all had a long day.

Walking out to the parking lot I saw all of the destruction the other dinosaurs must have caused, the doors were left open and the cell controls were broken, a raptor claw stuck in the button.

(Y/n)- Obsidian, down.

He obeyed the command and I hopped onto his back, yelling for Ripper to follow us and riding to my house.

When we got home I jumped off of Obsidian, walked around to the patio and leaned against a tree. The two giants laid down on either side of me, the three of us falling asleep together.
