Jane awoke the next morning feeling horrendous, she was afraid this concussion was worse then they thought. She decided to try and keep it from Brady. He worried so much about her.

"Morning sunshine. How are you?" Brady had made a huge breakfast and the smell was causing Jane to struggle. "Damn. You look like hell. I'm sorry, but you do."

Jane struggled to find the words, at that second everything went black

She woke up two hours later in the ER. She had an IV and oxygen. She felt better but was confused as to why she was there

"Where am I and why?"

"You passed out. Two trips to the ER in less than 3 days. Must be a record of some kind. Relax. The doctor will be right back." Brady was trying to be calm. She knew he was worried though.

"Our tree. We were supposed to get one today. Am I well enough to get one? I want to"

"Jane. Calm down. Let's see what the doctor says, ok?"

Mike walked in. He was in surgery when Brady had paged him.

"I thought you were ok? How did I miss this?"

"I'm sure it was the traveling and the concussion. I'm fine dad. I feel better now. I'm not sure what's in that IV but it's making me feel much better. No headache. No nausea, finally. Now if someone can get this line out of me I'll be on my way to get a Christmas tree"

The doctor chose that moment to walk in. "Hi Jane. I'm Dr. Arthur. I'll have you out of here in no time but first I want to go over what we've found."

"Found? You found something?! That's not good. Finding something in someone's body is never good. Omg, what did you find? A tumor. A mass. What?"

"Jeez Michael. Is this what happens when a parent is a doctor. Jumping off the handle. Assuming the worse. What did you plant into her head?"

"You forget that Jane has a degree in Sports Medicine she is well aware of the body and how it works."

The two doctors exchanged friendly banter back and forth while Jane and Brady worried about the news

"Umm. Doctors, can we get on with it. Jane is the patient and a bad one at that, so if you could just give her the diagnosis and be done with it we'd appreciate it"

"Right. Ok. So while I'm sure Jane has some residual affects from her concussion which would contribute to the headaches and nausea, it's not the only thing. You're bloodwork showed you're electrolytes are off and you're showing signs of dehydration. It appears you have the start of hyperemisis gravidarum."

Michael's jaw dropped and he covered his mouth in shock

"Is that a bad thing, dad? Am I gonna die?"

"No, but you will feel like death. HG is,well, really severe morning sickness that lasts all day. You're pregnant Jane"

"That can't be. I haven't missed my shot. Virtually impossible."

"Want to guess how much 'virtual impossibility' I've delivered over the years? It happens more often than people think. Judging from your HCG levels you're about six weeks along. We will need to do an ultrasound to confirm dates it I'm guessing late July, early August."

"Oh Brady. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen. Please don't be angry."

"Angry, are you kidding? I'm thrilled. I can't believe this"

Michael was still in shock. A grandpa? He was too young and too hip to be a grandpa. He needed to call Abbie.

"I'll let you two be and let this sink in. We're all surprised here. No, I'm not angry either. I'm thrilled for both of you and I'll support you both regardless of the decision you make. I have to go call your mom. She's going to have a nervous breakdown, but a good kind!"

Just then the ultrasound tech came in with the portable machine to check her dates and Michael let them be to go call Abbie.

Jane inserted the probe and the tech took over. She stopped to take measurements and pictures of what she could. She entered data into the machine.

"Well, according to my calculations, we're looking at a due date of July 28th, so let's see, 6weeks. 1 day. Everything is measuring perfectly. Congrats!"

The doctor returned and explained that with HG she'd probably need multiple trips to the ER to help manage it. He would prescribe to what he could but staying hydrated was the most important thing

Jane and Brady left holding hands. They were blessed and over the moon happy. Of course this wasn't part of their plans but neither one of them cared. They were walking on cloud 9. They went and picked out the most luxurious tree they could find. They headed to a local craft store and picked out gorgeous ornaments and lights. Since they were going to deliver the tree tomorrow before Brady left they opted for dinner out. Jane managed to eat what she could, at that point it didn't matter. She was so happy
