Brady had Jane home in no time at all. She was still crying and was shaken up but seemed a bit calmer.
"How did you know what would happen?" Jane finally asked
" I'd heard him and his teammates talking during intermission. I got stopped by the press for interviews, so did he. Then we had the coaches chat. I timed everything as carefully as I could without it causing suspicion."
He parked his car and went up to the apartment with her. Jane could barely stand so he held her up. The events of the night had taken its toll on them both.
"Will you stay in the guest room again tonight?! I don't want to be alone. I trust you, Brady. What time is practice?"
"No practice tomorrow. Day off. Yes I'll stay in the other room. Whatever makes you comfortable, ok?
She'd made them both special tea to help them sleep. He hadn't showered so he did that while the water boiled.
"I'm so sorry you got dragged into this. You don't need the added aggravation. I'm
Also going to be the laughing stock of the PHL. I can hear the comments now.""Fuck that and fuck them. You have no idea how close you came to being a notch in the dashboard. I feel so bad for his wife, Victoria. Sweetest thing ever. They've got three girls too. I don't know how or rather why she puts up with it honestly."
"Love makes you do odd things I suppose. They've got three kids, it's not just about her. What are the kids' names?"
"Mary, Wilhelmina, and Stefania. He also has a two sons from a previous relationship, Gregory and Matthew"
"Wow. He's a busy guy. I couldn't imagine having that many kids. I think I'd settle for two, maybe three. I hope he's a better father than husband"
Both agreed they were exhausted and they should try and get some sleep but they found themselves still talking after two hours about everything and nothing. Jane loved having him here with her.
"Would you want to live here with me? Strictly platonic of course. I like having you here, i feel safe and the company is nice. Are you interested?"
"Are you serious? Where is this coming from?"
"Tonight was terrifying I thought for sure he was going to rape me. You came and I instantly calmed down. I feel safe around you. I want you here, with me. No one needs to know. If they ask you're a roommate paying rent."
"Well, since you put it that way. Yes. I would love to move in here I'll start moving my stuff tomorrow. Are you sure this isn't the shock talking?"
"I'm pretty sure. Do you have a lot of stuff. I'm not sure where to put it. I have that spare room. I'm honestly not using it for anything and my office is in the living room, we can put yours stuff in there except your x-box, you can hook it up out here of course!"
"Well that sounds ok to me. How is Stormy going to handle it? Won't he be jealous?" Just then the fat cat made his debut. He rubbed up against Brady like he'd known him for years.
"There's your answer! He's my responsibility so I don't expect you to change his litter or feed him so no worries. The rest we will figure out tomorrow. I am exhausted and I'm going to try and sleep. I will go grocery shopping tomorrow since I'm not doing road trips that require being gone longer than a day."
"I can pay for half, seems fair. Or I'll pay for my stuff, I eat, a lot. I'll also do half on all the bills, aside from credit cards. Lol"
"Sounds like a plan. Now. I'm going to bed. Goodnight, Brady"
"Goodnight Jane!" He came towards her and gently brushed his lips over hers.
"I'm so sorry. I should've asked first."
"Don't be sorry. I trust you and I liked it. Will you stay with me until I fall asleep. Just sit with me. That's all?!""Yes I will. I would like that very much. I promise no monkey business."
Jane turned everything off and made sure everything was locked. She took a Motrin for her nose and headed to bed. When she got there she'd discovered Brady had already fallen asleep. She laughed. Poor guy was just as exhausted as she was. Stormy jumped into the bed and curled up between the two of them. With Stormy and Brady with her Jane fell asleep in no time at all
