Lehlani's POV
On the night of the heist we are all getting ready. Tyler is doing whatever tech genius do. Liz is doing whatever bomb genius do and Marcus is probably polishing the car or something.
I'm in my room changing for the party since Jace and I are going to enter as guests. I am wearing a navy ballgown dress and gold stilettos. I put in black contact lenses to disguise my brown eyes.
Jace said that when you go undercover you have to disguise everything about you from the color of your hair to you own height. I don't know how to change your height but then again ,this is my first rodeo. This is going to be very difficult for me ,not only because it's my first time but also because I'm supposed to be held hostage. My dad is usually invited to these governmental shindigs and if he turns out to be there then I'll have to hide away from him as well.
I put on a black lace wig and I fix it up. When I'm done I go downstairs.
As I am going down the stairs I see Jace standing at the bottom in a navy tuxedo. His hair is all gelled up and his eyes are brown. He already has his mask on since it's a masquerade party.
The first thing he says when he sees me is "Aren't you a bit too young to be showing that much skin?"
I roll my eyes. "You could have just told me that I look nice if you wanted to say something," I tell him.
"You don't look nice," he says. "You look amazing."
I raise my eyebrows just as I reach the bottom of the stairs. Jace rarely compliments anyone. Well since I've been here the only time I hear him compliment someone is when his Liz forces him to compliment her and when someone did good planning for a mission.
"Was that a compliment?" I ask and he shrugs. "Did you just compliment me?"
"If you're expecting me to repeat it stop holding your breath," says Jace.
"Nah. No need for you to repeat it. I heard you loud and clear. You just boosted my confidence by a hundred percent," I say with a big smile.
"Here's your mask," he says as he takes out a navy mask from his pocket and hands it to me.
"Thank you!" I say and I put it on my face.
"I feel like a pumpkin," says Liz as she walk out of the living room with Tyler behind her.
"You look fine. It's just a waiter uniform only," says Tyler.
"Just look. It makes my butt look flat," Liz complains.
"Seriously. That uniform is tight so if it makes your butt look flat then that's exactly how it is," says Tyler and Liz gives him a warning look.
"Hey guys," I say and they both turn to look at us.
"Wow. You guys look great," says Tyler.
"Thanks," Jace and I both say.
"I'm burning with jealousy right now. You get to wear a gorgeous dinner dress and I'm wearing a waiters uniform. My heart is shaking with jealousy right now," says Liz.
"Come on. Even if you were wearing a janitor's uniform no one will know it's you because we are in disguises ,remember?" says Jace.
"Ugh. This sucks," says Liz.
Marcus walks in the room with a chauffeur's uniform.
"Are we all ready to go?" he asks.
"Just ... a ... second," says Tyler. "Here are your earpieces. So we can all keep in touch."
Tyler hands everyone the earpieces. The earpiece is so tiny that I hope I don't drop it otherwise I won't be able to find it. I put it in my ear.
"And here are your microphones," says Tyler handing us a small plastic each with a tooth inside. "That's a microphone. You put it in your mouth on top of a tooth then we'll be able to hear each other through the earpiece.
I put it on top of one of my back teeth.
"Are we good now. Or to we also need fake intestines for incase we get poisoned?" Marcus asks sarcastically.
"That's actually not a bad idea," says Tyler and everyone rolls their eyes. "Just kidding guys. Here are your ids Mr and Mrs Flint."
Tyler hands me and Jace fake ids.
"You also need to wear these matching weddings rings to make it convincing," he hands us wedding rings. "And occasionally kiss."
"Okay. The kissing part is a bit too much. Like come on, you don't have to see a couple kiss in order to believe that they are a couple," I say.
"But even if we do kiss it won't matter 'cause it's just for the mission," says Jace.
"Can we go now?" Marcus asks.
"Sure," Jace replies.
With that we all exit the house. There is not turning back now. Shit is getting real.
