The next morning I wake up to a knock on the door.
"Go away," I say sleepily.
I hear the door open and I feel someone pull the blankets of me.
"Hey!" I yell as I sit up and see Jace at the edge of my bed.
"Why aren't you up yet? Yesterday I clearly told everyone to be in the study at 7," says Jace sternly.
"I overslept. Why is it even a big deal. We all live in the same house. Does it matter what time we meet ," I say rubbing my eyes.
"Look here Lani! Just because your dad is worth millions and you get everything you want doesn't mean here you any special! You're the one who forced yourself into this group and now you can't even do an easy thing such as waking up before 7!" Jace yells angrily.
"It's just that ..." I try to talk but he keeps yelling.
"If you can't keep up then I think it's better if you leave. We agreed to treat you as part of the group even though we knew you were not up for it! So you better keep up or you might as well leave us alone because someone we don't need in this group is an entitled, spoilt and lazy brat!" he yells. "If you want to join us you'd better be downstairs in 15 minutes or you're free to leave."
He storms out of the room and slams the door.
I quickly run to the bathroom and take a 2 min shower. I don't even brush my teeth. I quickly throw on a t shirt and sweatpants and I run downstairs.
Jace's POV
Lehlani rushes into the secret room.
"I'm here," she says breathless. She looks at me then she quick looks away.
"Can we begin?" Liz asks.
"Yeah," I say. "As you guys know we've been trying to unite all the National jewels of the country and so far we have the Crown and the bracelet. Now what is left is is the scepter, the chain and the anklet. We've been tracking the jewels and it seems like the government has noticed what we're doing so they've probably guarded the jewels with tight security. In our last meeting we decided to go after the scepter. Tyler what have you found out so far?"
"Well I've been researching and it turns out that they removed the scepter from the national museum and hid it away at a secret place. There is no other information about it on the internet but I managed to check on the dark web and it showed that it was still in the city. I later on hacked the prime minister's computer and I found out that there is a governmental safe in a restaurant Downtown where they hid the scepter," Tyler informs us.
"Hiding it in plain sight. Clever," says Liz.
"But not clever enough," I reply. "So did you find us the perfect day to execute our plan?"
"Yes. There is going to be an event in two weeks and events are the perfect occasions to steal without getting caught. The guards won't be concentrating on any since there will be many guests,"says Tyler.
"Two weeks? That's short notice," says Marcus.
"Yeah. Tyler aren't there any other events?" I ask.
"No. The earliest is in a month and by then they will have moved it already," says Tyler.
"I guess we have to plan everything quickly," I say. "Tyler do you have the blueprints so we can start with the plans?"
"Do I?" asks Tyler with a smirk. "Do I?"
"Do you or don't you Ty? We don't have time for your cockiness right now," says Liz.
"Geez. Can't a guy have his moment?"
"Tyler the blueprints," I command.
"Sorry. Okay so the restaurant has a 2 floors and a balcony. The safe is in the basement and only the governor and the minister of security is allowed down there. There is even a fingerprint lock and eye scanner," says Tyler.
"So how are you planning to get through?" I ask.
"Well for the fingerprints I'm going to hack the home affairs sever and get a copy of his fingerprints then I'll print them onto a glove," explains Tyler.
"Good and for the eye scanner?" I ask.
"That's the difficult part. We are going to have to physical scan his eye that night," Tyler says.
"Okay. I'm sure we can manage. Great job Ty," I say.
"Thanks," he replies proudly.
"So just because there will be an event there won't mean no one will be looking at us so we'll need a distraction that'll draw everyones attention. Liz do you have something in mind?" I ask.
"Well ,I could insert a bomb on one of the water pipes so when it explodes water will flow everywhere," says Liz using her hands to emphasize the word everywhere.
"That's too dramatic. Let's make it plan B. Do you have something else a little more subtle? My plan is to get in and get out quietly so that they'll only notice that the scepter is gone days later," I tell them.
"Okay. Um ... maybe I can make a drink explode. I can put something in a drink to make it explode and smoke," says Liz.
"Sounds good. But you'll have to be a server so it doesn't look suspicious," I say.
"I can get myself hired for the night. I heard their looking for extra pairs of hands. And Ive been told that I make a mean cocktail," boasts Liz.
"Good. Marcus as always you'll be waiting for us outside in case we need a fast exit and to protect Tyler in case if something goes wrong," I say.
"Fine by me," replies Marcus.
"Lastly ,Lehlani, you and I are gonna be the ones to steal the scepter," I say and her eyes widen in surprise when I say her name. I bet she wasn't expecting to be included. "Are you up for it?"
"Sure. Yeah. Of course. I'm up for it. I'll do it," she says enthusiastically.
I turn to the rest of the team. "Lehlani and I are going to enter as guests. Tyler were gonna need fake identities and Marcus we'll need disguises," I say.
"It's a masquerade party which makes it even better to hide your identities," says Tyler.
"Good. And a plan on how to scan the governor's eye. We need to have something he can stare at for some time while scanning his eyes," I say.
"I'll start working on it," says Tyler.
"Good. Seems like we've got a plan. Now it's time to start preparing. Let's get this scepter people."
