When Danny was born, the people of the village celebrated. He was the first baby viking to be born and to survive the winter. However, they grew less happy as he grew. He always wandered off, trying to find something or someone, but not even he knew what and they started to regret that he was born. He is not good with weapons, does not wish to fight the other vikings and can not bring himself to be friends with anyone but Sam and Tucker, but neither are particularly viking material either. Sam is the daughter of their medical couple, but she barely bothers to study and Tucker is the son of the blacksmith couple, and while he pays attention everything he makes breaks.
Danny, he is the son of the chief and his wife, but he has no interest in taking over or in fighting. They all preferred to hang out in the forest in their free time, instead of studying or getting stronger, and it makes their tribe mad. They have three kids out of 6 that survived winter and yet they refuse to do their duty. It is heartbreaking, and honestly if those kids don't shape up they might get banished for not doing their jobs. However, Danny refuses to do it, even after the other 2 start working harder. He is still working to find whatever he is missing, it is like a giant hole in his heart, and it is the only thing stopping him from ending his life.
It is not often that other tribes visit, since the vikings are more often than not at war, but this is the trader that is not to any tribe. They work independent from the vikings, not getting drawn into any of the wars beyond for materials and such as they are supposed to do. This one brings with them a warning.
"A war is brewing and I do believe you are the target, so you had best be prepared Jack. Maddie, I see you are as lovely as ever. And if it isn't young Danny. What is miss Jazz doing today?"
Not pleased by the news, the tribe starts preparing. The blacksmiths get to work, crafting and fixing weapons, while the seamstress get to work making armor and clothes that won't hinder, but nothing the Chief does can convince his son to stop looking for some invisible thing and so they give up on him, focusing on the war as they must to keep their people safe. The tribe supposedly attacking them is something stupid like Silent or Ghost, but they can not bother to recall or care what the tribe called itself.
The weapons and clothes are done a week before it happens. Danny is out exploring the woods, trying to find whatever it is his heart aches for, when he hears the sound of cannons, yelling and metal on metal. He races home, confused because he was not told of any fights or wars about to begin, and finds chaos. His tribe is outnumbered, the enemy tribe both smaller and faster. There are also some of them that have unique features. Some are blue or green or such, some are carrying weapons they've never seen and most are sporting weird hair. However, the thing that most catches Danny's attention is the fact that the hole in his heart has slowly started to fill.
Whatever he is looking for is near, and it must be something the other tribe has. He races forwards, weaponless and everything, wanting to find it, ignoring the screams of his tribe and family as he weaves through the battle, dodging the attacks and other such things - though if anyone were to pay close attention, they would notice the other tribe redirecting their attacks to miss the boy, they know exactly who he is and how important he is - trying to find the important thing, he can almost taste it on his tongue its so close. Then, he breaks through the battle and catches sight of a fight going on right in the middle, between his father and the enemy.
His father is huge, towering over everyone, but the enemy is small and short, maybe 16 at most, dodging and weaving past most of the attacks, though he will occasionally redirect one towards his father or use one to get in an attack of his own. Danny watches in amazement as the white haired teen beats his dad, matching him almost blow for blow and finally knocking him out. The stranger looks up, prepared for the next challenger, but his tribe has managed to beat most of the other and all that remains are the women and children that can not fight. Green eyes lock with ice blue and something clicks into place.
