Cassie sat on the edge of her mother's bed. Her mother was lying on the bed her bed surrounded with machines, tubes and wires to keep track of her conditions. It has been 2 months since her mom has been admitted to the hospital. Every day, Cassie and Sam would visit her mom after university and would do so till her mom would be discharged. She spends most of her time in the hospital and hardly ever sees Calum, Eve, Leanne or Sam anymore. When she arrives home late at night, Calum's already asleep.

She told him to not wait up for her. And he listened to her well. Though she has noticed something different with Calum. Not to make him the bad guy or anything but she has noticed his distance with her. Now that she hardly ever sees him, their relationship is holding onto this thin string that will break any second. She needs him to keep her away from loneliness. She arrived home late that Tuesday night, and the lights of the living room were still switched on.

She heard thuds coming from Calum's room. She went in to see him half naked in his briefs only. Had he? Is he? She thought. She stood juxtaposed his bedroom door. She scanned the room for any signs if he was cheating on her. He could be...Then she notices the most obvious one. They tried to hid it but they should've done it properly if they wanted to cheat on her. Under his bed, was a black lacy bra. Cassie knew it wasn't hers since she didn't own any black bras. Lacy ones specifically.

She picked it up and the only thing on her mind was to expose the bitch and Calum of their crimes. "What's this Calum? Is this for me?" She acted stupid to put their guard down. Calum smiled and nodded. "Yes. I bought it for you. But it dropped out of the packaging I left on my bed earlier. I thought maybe you should get a gift since you're so busy with your mom's health."

"I need to go to the bathroom. Can I use yours?" She asked. He nodded and she went in to do so. She purposely splattered water on her top and left the bathroom after that. "Hey Cal? Can I borrow a t-shirt from your wardrobe? I accidentally wetted my top."

"Can't you just take one from your room?"

"I missed your scent." Cassie walked over and opened the wardrobe to find Eve inside. Eve of all people. 'This bitch is cheating on Sam with Calum. And Calum is cheating on me with Eve.' She thought.

"Eve? What? You? Seriously? You're cheating on Sam? With Calum? My boyfriend of all people?"

"I....I...it's not what it looks like." She muttered.

"Right."

Calum was suffering from shock. He was speechless and didn't know what to say. "We helped each other. There was a reason we did so. Sam and you were so cooped up with your mom in the hospital that we....took this a little too far." Calum said.

"Eve....I want you to leave now. Go back to wherever the hell you came from. You can say bye bye to your relationship with Sam." Cassie hissed.

Eve quickly grabbed her things and left the apartment immediately. All was left were Calum and Cassie staring at each other tensely. One with a shocked expression and the other one that was ready to kill. "Let's settle this maturely. You cheated on me. You said you loved me. And I loved you back. Why couldn't you hold onto our promise?" Cassie said, tear welling up her eyes.

Calum held his thumb and forefinger close together. "Cassie, we were cotton candy that melted too fast. We were holding onto this little thin string held by our hearts and it broke because of my misbehaviour."

"So we're done?"

"We aren't if you say so."

"I don't trust you anymore. and I don't think I can build that trust back for you."

"Okay. Still friends then?"

"Yeah." and her tears fell from her eyes like a storm.

******************

"How are you dealing with it?" Sam asked Cassie.

"Fine."

"I already knew I just thought that I could hold onto this longer."

"I wished Cal and I could be too."

"Now that you're single...."

"Why?"

"Why not we try out each other?"

"No thanks Sam."

"Why not?"

"I don't want to risk our friendship for a relationship that might break in the future."

"Isn't it worth risking for?"

Cassie stares at Sam with full of contusion in her eyes. She couldn't understand what he meant. "There's a reason why I left you alone for so long Cass."

She could get her questions answered finally.

"I love you Cass. So fucking much. I didn't know it at first since we're still 15. But as I saw you again after the isolation I gave you.... I finally realised that...i have been in love with you since so long ago."

"Don't be corny on me."

"I'm serious Cass. I really am."

"Could we try it out?"

"If you really want to.."

"Then will you be my girlfriend Cassie Reed?"

"Yes."

Now, all Cassie had on her mind was what the future would be like without Calum but with Sam. She never really planned for this to happen. She thought she had a one sided crush on Sam this whole time but he was on the same boat as her. She did plan a future together with Calum when they moved in together and lived together, ate together, cooked meals for each other...but it didn't work out as how she really planned.

She only wished to a night star that this relationship would work out with Sam.

And after 5 years of dating him, he popped the question she has been waiting for. The ring.

And if you predict another 5 years from now, they will be happily married with a beautiful child with them, in their little home at the heart of Manhattan. She loved him so.

"Love me forever and ever?"

"That's what I have planned for since I was born Cassie."

"I love you Sam."

"Me too. I love you too."

She thought she was out of his league because he was the school's hotrod and all she were the girl with the glasses. She thought she wasn't perfect enough for him. But actually in fact, she was already perfect enough him for him. She wasn't perfect but she was for him. She rated 10/10 for him.
