What Comes After

Aya POV

For the first time in a month I woke up in a bed. I yawn a bit and start to get up, but what I saw before me will forever be scarred into my mind, Marcus was pulling on a shirt over his muscular body, the amount of scars still surprised me, but for once I wasn't seeing them while focusing on treating a wound, but as his girlfriend. And I loved it. I hear a chuckle that snaps me out of my daze and I blush a dark shade of red. "Fuck sake Cookie, you're redder than my armour." He says teasingly before he sits down next to me and kisses my cheek. I smile a bit and hug him. "Come on, get up and do whatever you need to. I have to get in my armour." Marcus says and I let go and look him in the eyes. "Please stay a bit longer." I say, giving him slight puppy eyes. He just laughs a bit and pulls away. "I wish I could Cookie, but there's a lot to do." Marcus then fixes his hair. "You can sleep in though, I'll be in the command room if you need me." He says and he walks out the bedroom. I sigh a bit and I lay back down. And I drift off to sleep.

I awake to an explosion and I jump out of bed and I grab a Magnum from the dresser. I open the door and I slowly move through the door with the handgun raised. I slip on an oxygen mask encase I come across any areas that life support was disabled in. I get in the elevator and go down. When the door opens I'm met with dead bodies, Alaska lying amongst them. "ALASKA!" I quickly run over to his body and pull his helmet off, when I do, I see his lifeless eyes staring into mine and I start tearing up. "I'm so, so sorry." I say, I soon hear more gunfire and I aim my Magnum towards a door to my left, I then pick up Alaskas BR and I check the mag before I push the door. When I open it on the ground is Kris, Raven and Ryder. I quickly move past them to try and secure more survivors as much as this pained me. When I go into a marine aims an AR at my head before lowering it. "Lieutenant Sontoro, I'm sorry ma'am. The commander and some other Spartans told me to hide so I did. Here, follow me." He says and he lowers his rifle before bringing me towards another room and he pulls off a vent cover. "Go through here ma'am, I'll push through this door and distract them. Good luck." He says before opening the door and going through, I hear the fire of plasma fill the room and I climb into the vent. I heard the plasma fire stop and some guys laugh a bit. I kept going, poor guy. I eventuwlly come to the end and I kick the cover off beffore climbing out, I was near the command room now. I lift the BR and push forward into the next room, seeing Hannah dead on the floor, as well as a few other marines. I take a deep breath as I hear something smash from inside the command room, I open the door and I see Dam and Redd fighting inside, I go to run towards them but a familiar soldier pulls me back and covers my mouth. I hear a low, raspy voice whisper to me. "Shhh, we can't risk that fight Sontoro." When I turn around I see Dylan Foster. Then I turn around back to see Redd drawing his energy sword and he stabs it into Dam, who just laughs a bit and breaks his arm, causing Redd to let out a scream of pain, Dam pulls the sword out of his side and he kicks Redd onto his back, then pulls his helmet off. Redd looks at the blade before Dam cuts his head off. "MARCUS!" I shout and I run towards Dam.

I suddenly scream and shoot up, lying in the bed I had fallen asleep in. Redd quickly runs in, he was wearing his armour. "Aya!" He says in a very worried voice and comes over to me. I quickly hug him, now crying. He wraps his arms around me. "Shhhh, calm down. It's just a nightmare Cookie."
