i joined my  father at the top of the tower that loomed behind the village. It was one of three that connected to two enormous walls that kept invaders out. Like the army that was slowly moving into position two hundred yards away from where i stood. It was mid day, turning night but we didn't have time to wait for the shadow of darkness. We wouldn't have to if my plan worked. "You had better get ready" he said. With a nod I turned to decend down the ladder but something caught my arm. I turned to see eyes like the night, mirroring my own. "I am proud of you" was all he said. I gave him a hug, probably the first he ever recived since Cecile's nature was to punch you in the gut. Then, i was gone.

An hour later, i was stumbling along the road with bare feet and red wrists. The rope was cutting into the soft part of my hands and it really hurt. Why couldn't they have picked something else?! The gaurd behind me gave me a shove and i stumbled forward but not before kicking him swiftly in the shins at which he grimaced. I smile to myself and pulled the cowal lower over my head. We walked for a while more when i heard a deep booming voice. "Stop." We halted and i was shoved to my knees. "Who dares come before the sun king when he is about to avenge his daughter?" "only a peace offering in hopes that you will be sent away" Said the gaurd to my left. "The child of the night lord. He cannot come out in day as you know and will give himself up at moon's fall" As the sun king bent down to lift the hood off my tattared cloak, i cut my bonds and put a knife to his throat. Thats when everything went wrong.

Out of all the things i had forgotten to anticipate, it was Cecile's reaction to my gasp of pain when the sun king wrenched my arm behind my back. Before i was able to shout a word of warning, she had cut the king's hand and had be behind her back. The sun kning stared at the two of us, both of whom my father had been so hesitant to put into danger, and chuckled. "If i cant have the night lord now, then i will have the children of the man who had sheiled him from me all these years." I heard two horns blow, the sun ing's golden chonch shell and my father's war horn and with that the battle started.

The next few hours seemed like minutes because i could no longer tell where i was. Cecile had trained me to only focus on survival and to never harm one of your own. With these tactics i whirled like a deadly huricane, hacking and slashing my way across the field. I saw many more familiar faces among the dead than i would have care to see. I thought i was doing well untill i turned around to see a murderous sun king rushing twoards me wiht a bloody knife in his hand, going straight for my heart.

Even thought it was dark, i could still see the glint of the blade and it arced downward, and me helpless to do anything about it. Then, something hit my chest and everything went black.
