A week later, we all were standing in front of a newly dug grave, watching his glowing body be slowly lowered into the ground. Daemon squeezed my hand and i smiled up at him.
After Daemon had closed his eyes, Cecile had come up behind me, pulled the knife out, and placed her hand over his heart. WIthin minutes it looked like he had just been careless and had torn his shirt even though Cecile almost collapsed with exaustion. Seems that she had been studying healing magic for quite some time with out my father knowledge, and if it weren't for Daemon proposing to me right then and there, my father probably would have wrung her neck because of it. Not that i had accepted, yet.
The sun king died thinking he had avenged his daughter, the love of my life did not die, and Cecile no longer had to hide everything from her father.
Since I am the heir to the thief king's throne there had to be a huge ceremony of couarse which could not take place unless the mourning period of a year had passed. (kings took forever to mourn but hey, black jeans everyday) And there had to be a huge announcment and all this tradition stuff. Yuck.
After the funeral, Daemon took me to the top of the tower where i had watched the sun king's army assemble. As the sun came up, he got down on one knee, and asked me to amrry him, properly, And you know what, after all i had been through and after all he had done i knew there was only one answer. I kissed him which promptly made him fall down, taking me with him. So we sat there for the rest of the day, sharing stories and laughing. I think Cecile was gaurding the tower becuase no one came looking for us. As Daemon watched the sun set for the first tim ein his life, I said yes.
