The flashback brought Brooklyn in tears as she held onto her bear tighter. She missed how her twin brother used to protect her, now he barely pays attention to her. "Dinner!" Victor yelled, soon everyone walked downstairs to eat their dinner.
"All hands on deck." Victor yelled. Everyone put their hands in the middle except Billy and Brooklyn. "Thank you for this family, this food, even if it's not steak fillet." The reason why, well because Brooklyn felt like she wasn't part of the family and Billy thought the whole thing was weird. After dinner, Brooklyn went into the kitchen as she was washing dishes.
"Mrs. Vasquez, may I speak with you?" She asked. "Sure mija." They both sat down at the dining table and Brooklyn tugged on her shirt sleeve. "I feel like a burden on everyone. Including Billy. I don't feel like I'm part of the family." She shrugs and looks down.
"Mija, you will always be apart of this family. No matter your race, your personality, or your looks. You will always have a family." Rosa smiles and kisses Brooklyn's forehead before going back into the kitchen to clean the dishes.

"Knock, knock." Brooklyn smiles at the two boys as she enters their room about to say goodnight to the two of them.Freddy, who had been leaning back on his chair, reading a comic book, immediately sat up at the sight of Brooklyn and tried to smoothed down his clothes. "Oh, hey Brooke's." He said with a little blush on his face.
"Hey Freddy." Brooklyn greeted before she glanced over at her brothers bed. Billy didn't say anything or did anything, he was just simply laying down on his bed, looking at the ceiling. "Hey, Billy."
She waved, but he didn't answer or say anything to her as his eyes flickered down to the bed sheets once he was fiddling with them. "Okay," Brooklyn whispers as she hurries out the room as her breathing got heavier and heavier with each step she took.
All Brooklyn wanted was her twin. She was breaking down and he wasn't even noticing, except all he wanted was to find their mom.
She really missed how they used to play with each other as they were kids or tell each other stories at night before they went to bed. She even missed how he used to comfort her as she got scared.
Brooklyn pulled a picture from under her bed and looked down at it, she smiled as a few wet tears spilled down on it. It was a picture of her and Billy has toddlers on their first day of school. "I miss you Billy." She placed it back under the pillow and went to bed after drying her tears. "I miss you."
And it was true....

The next morning, Brooklyn woke up to the sound of her alarm clock as she groaned and woke up. She got a gray long sleeve shirt with ripped jeans and a pin button jean jacket. She fixes her hair by curling it up at the ends. After finishing getting ready she went downstairs for some breakfast she immediately caught the attention of Billy and Freddy sitting down at the table while they both ate cereal. "Good morning boys," Brooklyn greeted as she took a seat next to Freddy.
"You've curled your hair," Billy stared. "Yeah, why?" Brooklyn shrugs and scoffs. "You've never curled your hair before. It's weird." Billy said while munching on his cereal and looked down at his breakfast.
Brooklyn felt hurt by the way Billy talked about her hair as she ate her food in silence. "I think it looks pretty." Freddy said, making Brooklyn blush furiously. "Okay, kids we have to go." Rosa explained to them all as everyone got in the van.

"Big school, two thousand students you might say, 'Wow so many strangers.' But not if you think of them as your future friends then 'wow so many friends!'Brooklyn didn't like having her first day of school in the winter and it was in the middle of the school year.
As they entered the school, they came across a security scanner. It was dumb to have them in school, but she thought it was to keep students safe from school shootings. "This is our security scanner. Like the ones in the airport, totally safe." She beams.
"I know what it is." Billy said getting very irritated with Darla. "Billy, stop it!" Brooklyn gritted her teeth. "Is she always like this?" He asked. "Silence makes me uncomfortable." Darla chipped in. "She's almost never uncomfortable." Eugene mocked as he continued playing his game.
When it was time to leave, Darla ran up to the twins and hugged them both. "Have a good first day of school big sister!" Darla beams at Brooklyn. "You too little sis." She smiles. "Have a good first day of school big brother." Darla said to Billy.
"Look you don't have to hug me all the time we're not actually brothers and sisters so..." Billy trails off as Brooklyn glares at him and felt a tear running down her face as she looked at Darla. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
"I-I-I didn't mean to make her-." Billy stutters as Darla left with Freddy, leaving the twins all by themselves. "See ya." Brooklyn said in barley a whisper. "Brooklyn." But it was too late, Brooklyn already was gone and Billy didn't know what else to say.
