tw: super sad. depression, without explicitly saying it.
basically y/n has a break down and he helps her. it's super ooc but like i said i really need serotonin rn.

it was just one of those days for y/n. her body felt as if it were made of bricks, and she couldn't find the strength to move herself from her bed. it happened from time to time, but today was particularly rough. her mind felt empty, and her body felt as if it were on auto pilot. like she was there, but she wasn't the one controlling her body.

though, it wasn't just one of those days. the truth is, she hadn't been to class in three days. and rolling over as the sun blinded her, even through her eyelids, she attempted to go back to sleep. she had eaten once during these three days, a small bowl of lucky charms was enough for her. her phone hadn't stopped blowing up. worried messages from her friends flooded her phone. kirishima had stopped by the day before, only to be turned away.

she had just started to drift back into her blissful sleeping state, when a harsh knock at her door caused her to jump slightly in surprise. "go away." she called, burying her face into her pillow. the door opened anyway. "what the fuck do you want?" she groaned, muffled by the pillow. "why the hell have you not been here? and also, why the fuck are you ignoring me?" she knew that voice anywhere. she brought down the pillow just enough so her e/c eyes showed, sending a glare at the ash blond. "go away." she spoke in her same annoyed tone.

"fuck off. tell me what's wrong." he retorted. she didn't answer, only three the pillow at him, which hit him square in the face. she hummed in satisfaction before pulling her blanket over her face. he rolled his eyes, mentally wanting to explode said pillow into next week, but he restrained himself. he only let out a frustrated sigh, sitting on the corner of her bed. "fine, don't talk, you bitch. but i'm not leaving." he spoke in a stubborn tone. she ignored this, letting her eyes close again.

she tried, for about ten minutes, but couldn't seem to go back to sleep. she finally pulled the cover away from her face, huffing as she did so. her eyes landed on katsuki, who scrolled through his phone. "why are you even here. i'm fine." her annoyed tone remained. deep down she was thankful he was worried about her, that he came to see her. but externally? she was pissed that he wouldn't leave her alone.

"tch," he clicked his tongue at her, glancing up from his phone. "i'm staying here until you either tell me why you're not in class, or i die. you take your pick."

"that could be arranged. your death, i mean." she grumbled, finally sitting up in a crossed legged position. he looked at her blank expression. her messy ponytail, the bags under her eyes. "you look like shit." was all he said. "fuck you." her face remained blank, but her tone was angry. "i didn't mean it like that. listen, i don't know what's got you so pissy, but go take a shower, i'll make food, and we can watch a movie, okay? until you stop being such a bitch."

she nodded slowly, knowing that he wouldn't leave until she at least pretended she was okay. and so she did, she took the longest, hottest shower of her life. and it was in that shower that all the numbness from the past three days melted away, carried down the drain by the water. she muffled her crying as much as she could, her tears blurring her vision.

she finally pulled herself together, shutting off the water and getting dressed. she stepped out of the bathroom, watching the steam that billowed out of the open doorway. she felt numb again. "you took forever." he mumbled from her bed, scrolling through netflix on her laptop. she didn't respond, she only pulled the sleeves of her black hoodie over her hands and wrapped her arms around herself. she stood in front of him. he didn't meet her eyes when he looked at her, for a reason unbeknownst to her. he shifted the laptop off of his lap and nodded his head to the space beside him.

she sat down next to him without a word. they stayed like that for a moment, peacefully, until she was slammed against something hard, warm. him. "what're you—" "stop. i heard you." her heart seemed to stop. he had heard her. he had heard her crying in the shower. she felt stiff in his embrace. the words echoed in her head . "i heard you."

her mumbness faded away as it had in the shower. she felt herself go limp as her eyes began to fill with tears again. she weakly wrapped her arms around him, fisting his t-shirt. sobs wracked her body, tears streamed down her face.

he didn't move the entire time, he just let her let it out. never in his years of knowing her had he seen her cry. not since that day on the beach. she had always seemed so vibrant, so happy.

her tears stopped after a while, small hiccups taking their place. she pulled away, looking at his blank expression. "do you wanna talk about it now?" is all he said, his eyes not leaving the wall of pictures she had hung. she shrugged. "there really is no reason. don't you ever just wake up and want it to be the last time? like every second is a fucking weight dragging you down? but you just put a smile on and ignore it. smile through it and laugh and nod and your day is full of 'i'm fine' and 'i'm just tired' " her voice was hoarse from her crying, her eyes were sore. "no. not really." he began, "but i get it." she nodded, letting her forehead rest on his shoulder. he kept his arm around her waist, and neither of them said a word about it.

"thank you." her voice came out as a whisper, but his ears picked it up. "yeah, whatever, dumbass." she stood up after a minute, walking to her mini kitchen she had set up. she made two bowls of ramen and carried them back to him, handing katsuki one before sitting next to him again. she clicked on tokyo ghoul, hitting play.

"everything's going to be okay." he said out of the blue. the two looked at each other, before he spoke again. "and if it's not, you don't have to pretend that it is, okay?" she nodded, looking back to the screen, letting her head fall to the side, resting against his bicep. she understood. no matter how she felt, she didn't have to pretend with him.
