- Zoe didn't grow up in a very good place. Her town is filled with criminals and just generally bad people. She has learned to adapt but that doesn't mean she likes the place
- Simon's father was one of the people who were supposed to run the Ultimate Stars Program, which is pretty much the only reason he actually got into it
