It was Cecilia's 15th birthday today. I couldn't believe it. It seemed just like yesterday I was holding her in the delivery room. I looked at my beautiful baby girl and smiled big. I was so proud of her. She was a freshman in high school and had straight A's in every class.

"Come on Cece we're gonna be late!" I yelled up the stairs.

I was taking her to get her hair dyed, while Tony got stuff for her surprise birthday party and set everything up.

"Coming mom!" she yelled back.

I watched as she came down the stairs. 15 years since I brought her into the world and if it wasn't for Tony, both her and I wouldn't be here right now. When she reached me, I wrapped my arm around her shoulder as hers found it's way around my waist.

"So what color do you want?" I asked.

"I want purple like yours but darker instead of pastel" she said smiling up at me. I smiled. She always wanted to be like her mom.

"Then let's go" I say squeezing her shoulder.

We walked outside to the car and got in, starting it up, I began backing out of the drive. I began driving to the hair salon down town and turned the radio on.

"Mom where's dad?"

"He'll be home soon" I say smiling to myself.

"Oh ok" she said before returning to her phone.

When we reached the salon I parked the car and got out, Cecilia following behind quickly. When we walked in the lady behind the counter smiled.

"Hello what can we do for you today?"

"My daughter wants to get her hair dyed purple" I say.

"Ok that'll take about a hour is that ok?"

"That's fine" I say looking at Cecilia's face which has a huge smile plastered on her face. The lady from behind the counter leads Cece to a hair station and begins preparing her hair.

After about a hour, Cecilia's hair was a deep purple color. I payed the salon and we both walked back outside to the car.

"Thanks mom" she said as she hopped into the car.

"Don't worry about it birthday girl" I say.

When we reached the house Tony's car was parked there. Cece squealed and jumped out of the car as soon as I parked. She waited for me to reach the front porch before going inside and that's when everyone jumped out of the hiding spots.

"SURPRISE!" everyone yelled out.

The expression on my daughters face is one I will never forget. She looked so happy. I wanted to give her everything I never had, and I planned to do just that.
