Angel pushed open the door to the Hotel Rexford and closed it behind her, walking over to the desk and getting a room for the night. She grabbed the key from the lady behind the desk and headed upstairs, already running a bit ragged. She unlocked the door to her room and stepped inside. It was small but not overly. A double bed took up most of the room with a nightstand with a small lamp on it which she turned on, course it didnt work. She sat down on the dirty mattress and kicked off her boots, leaning back against the headboard and closed her eyes, her mind wandering.

She was prewar, about a year before the bombs fell, she was kidnapped by a group who the Commonwealth knew so well now, but back then, they went by another name, the Commonwealth Institute of Technology, or the C.I.T. She had been out playing when someone grabbed her, she still wasn't sure who, but a rag with a sweet smelling scent was placed over her nose and she was out cold. She was only five when it happened. For a year she was put under procedures, things injected into her young body, and then was put into what they had called suspended animation. It wasn't full suspended animation, she could still here everything outside of the tank they had her in, but her body grew and matured.

She had heard of the bombs falling, the vibrations could be felt even that deep underground. A few times a year they took her out of the tank and let her stretch her legs for a bit. During one of the times she was allowed to stretch her legs, she came across a young boy, he wasnt older than three or four, not seeing anyone with him. He had striking blue eyes and dirty blonde hair. She smiled to him and waved and he waved back, smiling. She walked over to him and looked down at him, "Hi, what's your name?" The little boy looked up at her, "Shaun." She knelt down to his level and he looked at her, "I like your eyes, they're really pwetty." She smiled at him, "Thank you. I like your eyes too." "Shaun!" Angel looked up as a larger man came up, wearing a leather jacket and what looked like armor.

He was bald with a large scar on his face, and looked like he could tear the head off anyone he came across and Angel immediately didnt like him. He looked down at her and growled, "You got a problem kid?" She stood and looked up at him, her eyes narrowed but she said nothing. He picked up Shaun who waved goodbye to Angel who watched them leave, not liking that man at all.

Angel jolted upright in the bed, having heard something and grabbed the hunting knife she kept in her boot as a voice spoke in the darkness, "Woah woah Doll easy, its me." She let out a breath, eyes looking towards Nick, "Damn it Nicky! You nearly gave me a heart attack!" She put the hunting knife back on the nightstand and sat up slowly as he moved over to the other side of the bed. "Sorry Doll, Amari took longer than either of us expected." His voice sounded tired and she looked towards him, following his outline and felt the bed dip as he sat down on the other side. "You wanna talk about it?" Nick sighed deeply, laying back against the head board next d But she didnt mind, she knew he needed it. She yawned some and Nick smiled softly, "Go on back to sleep Doll, I'm sorry I woke you." She nodded, closing her eyes and fell back to sleep rather quickly as Nick pulled his hat over his eyes and did his diagnostic scans, the trill and beeps he gently made, kept the nightmares at bay for the rest of the night.
