It was 8 pm and the incident that happened in the afternoon was enough to make me feel like I was missing something. I turned to my side when my phone rang, Doyoung's name popping up. I lifted the phone to my ears just to hear Doyoung's breathless voice.
"Doyoung?" I asked, the male stopping to catch his breath. "What's wrong?"
"Lost my sister. I need help," he told me and I frowned, sitting up. "Like now. I don't know where she ran off to."
"How about Jeno? I'm coming. Where would Bunny go?" I asked, grabbing a pair of sweatpants and wearing them. "Doyoung?"
"Uh... I'm by the Han River. Remember that place where we all had a picnic back in high school? That place."
"Got it." Doyoung's sister had a knack for running away and these kinds of calls weren't strange to me. I quickly threw proper clothes on before asking my mother for the keys to the car. I ran to the driveway started the car, driving to the same spot my and friends used to picnic in.
It wasn't that far and Doyoung was still on call. I saw heard a few cars in the background and I guessed he was also outside. I asked where he was and he said he'd meet me in the same spot so I complied.
It took only about ten minutes to reach there since it was a little bit outside of our N-City district.
"Are you there yet?" he asked and I frowned. 'There'? Why wasn't he using the word 'Here'?
"Almost," I told him, parking the car before jogging to the same spot. It was under a tree and I saw a person already there. He was wearing a hoodie and jogging pants, holding a phone up to his ears.
"I'm here," the person said and I skidded to a stop just to see that it was Jaehyun. Jaehyun turned to see me standing there, his body freezing. "Taeyong--?"
"Doyoung? What's happening?" I asked Doyoung who yelled into the phone.
"Okay, now. Makeup! If you don't makeup then jump into the river!" Doyoung's voice then disappeared just as he hung up. Jaehyun blinked at me, his hand lowering the phone from his ear.
Doyoung and Taeyong must have set this up.
I cleared my throat, both of us plunging into silence as Jaehyun shuffled his feet against the ground. He snuck a look at me before he spoke.
"I heard you thought I was dating Na Jaemin's girlfriend," he said and I turned red, reaching up to hide my face.
Kim Doyoung!
"I was flustered," I replied and he nodded, his hands going to tighten the strings of the hoodie.
"Would you have been okay if I was?" he asked and I shook my head.
It was time, to be honest.
"No."
I saw Jaehyun try to stop a smile from spreading across his face. He turned at me, clearing his throat.
"Then I won't," he said and once again we were there, the atmosphere heavy. "I won't date anyone."
I looked down to the ground, hands shoved into my pocket. "Just because I don't want you to?"
Jaehyun nodded, coming a step closer.
"I'll wait," he told me. "Even if you don't want me, I'll wait until both of us are okay with us dating other people and we can go from there."
His words made my heart twist and I shook my head, looking up at him.
"What if I never want you to date anyone else?" I asked and I saw Jaehyun's eyebrows furrow. "Ever?"
"Ever?"
"Ever," I said simply.
"I guess I'll keep waiting," Jaehyun told me, smiling. "And while I wait, I'll practice my dating skills on you."
"Really?" I asked, chuckling. "I guess we need to give each other some practice then until we can go and find the one."
"Hmm. That's true. Relationships are so hard these days." Jaehyun told me. "We need to make sure we have some experience."
I laughed, Jaehyun reaching out to pull me closer. I felt his fingers intertwine with mine.
"Is kissing part of the experience?" he asked and I found myself nodding. Jaehyun grinned, dipping his head down to press his lips against mine. I felt his breath against my cheek and I tilted my head up, catching his lips with mine.
We kissed and I felt Jaehyun's arms engulf me into a hug. My emotions were finally clear and no longer all over the place. I was no longer trying to reason out what I felt. He pulled away just to look at me.
"I know when you went away two years ago, I made a one-hundred-and-eighty-degree change," he told me, a hand going to press against my cheek. "So now, I'm going to make a hundred and eighty degrees more."
"Three hundred sixty degrees?" I asked and Jaehyun nodded, hugging me close.
"Three hundred sixty degrees," he confirmed. "Full circle. Back to you."
