I sat there staring at the blank screen of my phone. I hadn't turned it on since we left Greece. I know I should, my parents are going to call me. But so will he. And I don't want him to call.

"You gonna stare at that screen all day?" Jax says walking into the kitchen. I spun on the seat to face him, dropping the phone.

"Possibly."

"Put it on charge, it's probably died. Then, you can easily just block him."

"You see, that's a lot of effort. I could just never turn on my phone again, and steal yours."

"You are not getting near my phone. I need it." He walked around the bench and was now standing on the other side.

"As do I." He reached out and took the phone I put down and turned it on.

"There, now you just gotta wait for it to load."

"And while that is happening, you'll give me your phone to call my parents?" I ask hopefully.

"Of course." I smile at him as he hands over his phone.

I get off the stool and walk towards the side of the room, mum's number ringing.

"Hey, honey, how are you? I tried to call but it went straight to voicemail."

"Yeah, I haven't turned my phone back on because he would've kept calling."

"Oh, I understand. Anyway, he came over again last night."

"Really? He has no understanding I do not want to see him. Not for a while."

"And Jarrod told him exactly that."

"Please tell me it was nothing more than a conversation." I pleaded; I knew how Jarrod could be. I also knew Cole, and if Jarrod went to fight him Cole would not back down.

"No, it was just a conversation. I kept Jarrod in his room. Your father on the other hand, he was furious when Cole left. However, Cole remained civil, asking where you were and if we could pass on a message to you."

"Please tell me you didn't tell him where I was."

"Of course I didn't, I knew that'd be the next place he'd go, not caring about the time."

"And what was the message?" I ask, sighing.

"Just that he was sorry and wants to talk to you."

"What a message, it's not like I don't already know he means exactly that." I say dryly.

"Carla, that was not the message and you know it." I could hear my dad say quietly on the other end of the phone.

"Mum? Was that not the message?"

"Of course it was, your dad is just confusing what I wanted to tell you with what Jax wanted to pass on." She responds quickly.

"Ok," I say, dragging out the end, "anyway, I've got to go, Jax needs his phone back."

"I've got to go also, shopping day. Goodbye honey, I love you."

"Seeya, I love you too."

I hang up the phone, turn to look at Jax, "I think mum is lying to me."

"And why would she be lying to you?"

"Because Cole was at their place last night, she says he had a message to pass on. She said it was just that he was sorry and he wanted to talk to me. But I already know that, it's not much of a message, then dad says that it wasn't the message."
