As I looked around the room, I let out a deep breath.

Since German had gone to his meeting earlier this morning, I managed to get all the kids to school and tidy the whole house. When Olga moved out, I realised really how hard it is to keep this place clean. She made it look so easy, but now I end up cleaning the house every Monday when the kids are out, then by the time they go to bed, it is an absolute tip again!

But more importantly, I had prepared a nice lunch for German. Normally, neither one of us is home at lunch time, but today was the first time in ages that I was not at the Studio or he wasn't in a meeting or doing any other form of work.

If I am being completely honest, I was extremely proud of myself. I had managed, after several hours of persuasion, to get Olga's recipe for chocolate cake, and I have to say, it was smelling divine. I had also prepared some sandwiches and made my own lemonade.

All that was left to do was change out of my current outfit, which was covered in flour, and into my pink dress before German got back.

Before I headed upstairs, I checked the cake in the oven, 6 minutes until it was ready. That would mean it would come out just before German got back. I quickly ran upstairs and grabbed my dress that I had earlier laid out on the bed.

I rushed down the stairs just as the timer was about to go off. I headed towards the kitchen and got there just in time to take the cake out of the oven. I was so relieved it turned out perfectly.

As I was busy admiring my baking skills, I heard the front door open. Just by the sound his feet made when he walked, I knew it was German.

I walked into the living room to greet him, but as I did, I noticed that the flour that had been on my hands was now on my new outfit. Trying to hide it, I turned away quickly to try and dust it off, but just making it worse.

As I was in the middle of that, I felt German's hands around my waist. He turned me to face him, and I immediately went bright red, realising that the front of my dress now had chocolate powder and flour smeared across it.

"So how was your day?" I asked.

"Well, the meeting was rather boring, but what about you? By the looks of you, you must have been having fun." He replied, staring at my dress, trying to contain his laughter.

"Hey, I was busy baking a surprise for you!" I replied.

As soon as he heard the word "baking", his eyes lit up, and I could tell he was excited.

"But that's for dessert." I said. "You can't have any unless you eat the sandwiches I made you."

He sighed as he headed into the kitchen. I followed a few seconds later after attempting, once again, to remove the chocolate powder and flour that was coating the front of my dress.

I managed to get a bit off, but it still looked like a chocolate bomb had gone off on my dress!

As I walked through the door, I felt something powdery against my face. I looked up to see German stood there holding the bag of chocolate powder, with a large grin spread across his face.

We stood there for a moment, each trying to figure out what the other's next move would be. But before I could reach for the open bag of flour I had left on the table, German placed his bag beside it and took my hands.

"Well as lovely as this surprise lunch is, I have something to show you too, and I'm sure you will love it almost as much as I love your baking."

Intrigued by what it could be, I followed him out of the kitchen and into the garden.
