As I read the words on the piece of paper, there were a million thoughts racing through my mind. Why? How? But most importantly, why me?

I heard the door open and looked over. German walked into our room and tried to sneak past me.

"German."

He stopped where he was and looked back at me.

I held up the piece of paper. He stared at it for a moment before looking back at me.

"Why did you do it?" I was waiting for his answer for what felt like an eternity.

"I didn't."

He looked me in the eyes and pulled me in closer.

But as hard as it was, I managed to pull away from his embrace.

"What is it?"

"You just lied to me." I looked to the floor, trying to hold back my tears. "Why?"

We were sat in silence for a while.

"But I didn't."

I couldn't believe he lied to me again!

"Then how do you explain this?"

I handed German the paper.

"I can't, because it isn't real!"

"How can you say that? This very clearly shows that you married whoever this woman is when you were travelling Europe with Vilu, and then you cheated on not only me, but Jade as well! How do you explain that?"

He just stared at me blankly.

"But I am not married to her!"

I sighed.

"You know what German, I thought that with all these years, I would be able to trust you."

I looked down to the floor. I felt his hand beneath my chin as he tried to lift up my face, but I pulled away.

I finally let the tears I had held in fall down my face. German was about to wipe them off my face, but I pushed his hand away.

"I think it might be best, if you slept elsewhere tonight." I sighed.

It hurt me to say it, but I just couldn't face him anymore that night.

"Alright." German replied as he walked to the door.

He looked back at me once more before closing it behind him.

The next morning I woke up and rolled over. I was expecting to see German as usual, but he was not there. Then I remembered everything that had happened last night.

I got a message on my phone. I checked it, it was Vilu reminding me she was coming round in half an hour.

I quickly dressed and got downstairs just in time to open the door.

"Hi!"

Vilu hugged me tightly and walked into the house.

She seemed very excited about something, but her face immediately dropped when she saw the expression on my face.

"What is it?" she asked me as we walked over to the sofa and sat down.

I began to explain to her everything that had happened over the last two days.

"And, he was married to her."

"What? This has to be a mistake, he loves you Angie, can't you see? This has to be a misunderstanding!"

"I don't know, but what hurts the most is that he denied it twice!"

"He wouldn't lie to you about something like that! Just please don't split up! I can't go through losing another mum!"

She began to cry. In my mind, I remembered seeing her after she found out Maria wasn't coming back. But somehow, this was worse.

I hugged her tightly.

"No matter what happens between me and your father, just know you will never lose me."

She held out her little finger.

"Promise?"

I held out mine.

"Promise."
