Yup, it's the last chapter. I know it's a really short little book as well as chapters, but I still had fun. In reality, I didn't really aim for this to be a super long story, just see f I could finish with at least ten chapters. This'll be an EXTREAMELY short ending. So to whom ever reads this, thanks!
◌ Chapter 10 ◌
I felt tears sting the back of my eyes as I stomped away, getting somewhere other then there as I refused to let tears shed. No.. just not for him. This is just some silly reaction that I better ignore.
But why does it hurt so much?
. . .I wish he would've come after me. But, he didn't. I managed to get to school and avoid him pretty well. Right now, we were all getting ready for the graduation ceremony.
I put my blue robe on over my black dress and adjusted my hat thing. They have already started calling out people, and I'll be the last one since I'm doing a speech. Right after will be the end of the year dance.
I watched from the back of the stage as people said their little quotes and stuff, then Kae stood up.
"Thanks for giving me the ticket outta here!" He said and earned a laugh. I applauded.
Next, JinYing came up.
"Ah, give me that. Thank you, remember to vote for me!" She said with her annoying voice.
Last, Yoonji came up. His hat was tied on his waist, probably not to mess up his hair or something. His voice was a painful reminder of the other night.
"Thanks for giving me a four years to remember," he said.
"And now, our final graduate, Jem, shall share a speech," the principal said, motioning me towards him. I forced a small smile and stood next to him, accepting my certificate and the microphone.
"Okay, I'll make this quick so you can hurry up and go to the dance," I started off, and a bunch of people laughed. I spoke again, "Yup. It's the end of the year, and in a few hours you'll go home and think to yourself, What happens next? Don't worry, you'll know soon. If you didn't do what you wanted to do in these past years, make these last hours the best so you can tell your kids someday, The day I graduated, I went full out."
They let out a roar of applause, and I could here my friends shouting Happy Birthday and such. Then, our hats flew in the air.
. . .The gymnasium was crowded and had many decorations. A bunch of people were talking, and handful voting, and everyone else was dancing. Sejoon, Huanji, Kae, and Yoonji were singing on a small stage for music. JinYing was sneakily adding more votes for her. I scoffed and continued to drink my punch.
"Hey-HEY! Can I have your attention?" A student screamed in the front of the gym, the stage now holding a few girls and JinYing. The chatter died down and people averted their attention.
"We will now announce the King and Queen!" Said the student. She ripped the envelope open and read the letter.
"And the Queen is.. Shou JinYing!" She said, placing a crown on the girls head. I sighed as people screamed and clapped for her.
"Okay, and now for the King.. Who is Xian Yoonji!" The student squealed, and a bunch of chicks began to scream and clap hard. A shiny crown was neatly placed on his head.
"We will now hold the King and Queens dance," she said, pushing the two in the middle of the gym, where everyone made a spotlight for them. The lights dimmed and then soft music played as JinYing looked up at Yoonji with lustful eyes.
His eyes failed to meet hers, and instead met with mines. I don't know why, but I found myself running through the small crowds of people and going up to the rooftop.
I ran up the stairs and collapsed on the ledge, finally letting tears flow. It just really hurts to see them like that, together and all. No matter how much I told my crybaby to suck it up, tears just spilled harder as I sobbed.
The wind blew in the dark night sky as I kept my head down and sobbed uglyly, nipping my skin that wasn't covered by the black dress. Suddenly, I felt a hand pat my back soothingly.
I looked up and saw Yoonji looking at me with those beautiful luscious brown eyes. It made me want to cry more.
"Please don't cry," he said softly. I laughed bitterly.
"Really! Really, Xian Yoonji? You're asking me to stop crying despite the fact I have to watch you be with someone else all day, trying to refuse the fact that I love you, but in all honesty I do! You herd that? I love you. But you know what?" I said harshly, tears blurring my vision as I stepped away from him.
"It's okay to watch the ones you love go and love another when you know their happy."
Suddenly, the world seemed to stop. Yoonji stepped forward, placing his hands on my waist and smashing his lips on mine. At first, it was hard and rough. Soon, it softened and it made me forget everything. When he parted, he smiled at me.
"I'll be happy with you, and only you."
"B-But--"
"And I love you, too."
We stared at each other and he leaned in once again, and this time I leaned in too.
