Peter was excited about the rest of the day. Now that school was over, he was going to go to the tower and to have a lab day with Tony.
As he walked down the sidewalk, he heard a tiny bark. He slowly turned down the alley that he heard the bark come from. He looked around for what made the noise.
After looking for a few minutes, he decided that he was just hearing things and turned around. When he turned, he was met with a small puppy.
The puppy was a tiny black and white dog. It looked like a Boston terrier. It ran up to him and sat at his feet.
"Hi, buddy," Peter said, leaning down to pet it. After patting its little head, he started walking out of the alley.
As he walked, he felt something bump his leg. He looked down to find the puppy from earlier. He bent down so that he was crouching in front of the puppy.
"You can't follow me. Mr. Stark wouldn't let me have you in the tower," Peter explained. The puppy yipped in defiance. "Okay fine. You need to be quiet though." He stuffed the small puppy in his backpack. "I think I'll call you Milo," he whispered to the small puppy.
He zipped his backpack up and continued his walk. As he walked he quietly hummed a tune to himself. Occasionally, he would talk to the small puppy that was on his back.
Soon enough, he reached the tower. He took a deep breath before entering.
"What's up, mini Stark?" the receptionist asked.
"Nothing much, Ms. Stone," Peter responded.
"Peter, I'm only a few years older than you, call me Kaylin," Kaylin reminded him.
"Okay, Ms. S- Kaylin," Peter said, walking over to the elevator. He walked into it and pressed the button of the floor with the lab. He almost leaned against the wall but then he remembered he had a puppy in his bag.
After a minute or two, the doors finally opened. Peter exited the elevator. He waved to some of the interns that he knew as he walked down the hall. Finally, he reached the lab.
"Hey, kiddo," Tony said, not looking up from what he was working on.
"Hey, Tony. I just wanted to pop in and tell you that I've got some...uh...homework, yea homework. So, I'm just gonna go do that. I'll be back in a bit," Peter told his mentor. After he finished talking, a tiny yip came from his backpack. Tony swiveled around to face him for the first time.
"What was that?" he asked quizzically.
"Oh, I just got over a cold," Peter quickly responded. He faked a cough that slightly resembled Milo's yip for emphasis. Tony eyed him.
"That's weird because it sounded a lot like a dog. You wouldn't happen to have a dog, would you?" Tony asked.
"What? No. Not me. I would never ever bring a dog in here!" Peter lied unconvincingly. He quickly left before Tony could question him any further.
He stepped into the elevator and pressed the floor his room was on. He lightly tapped his feet as he waited. Finally, he reached the right floor. He walked over to his room.
He knelt down next to the bed and took off his backpack. He carefully set it down and unzipped it. He lifted Milo out of the bag and held him up. Milo wriggled in his hands.
"Look, Milo, if you want to stay here, you need to be quiet," Peter chastised. He put the tiny puppy on his bed.
"Getting over a cold, you said," came a voice from behind him. Peter froze. He slowly turned around to face Tony, who was leaning against the door way. Tony waved.
"Well, uh, I can explain. You see, he... I mean I... yea I give up," Peter gave in.
"Look, Pete, he can't stay."
"But look at his wittle ittle face," Peter pouted. He picked up Milo and held him out to Tony. Tony's face slowly softened.
"Fine. He's your responsibility though. I don't want dog poop all over the tower," Tony told him
"You hear that Milo?" Peter said to the puppy, "You get to stay! Aw, who's a little snuggle bug? You are! Yes you are!" He jumped up and down, exciting the puppy he was holding.
Tony smiled fondly at the two and left the room. As he was walking, he cringed when he heard a crash from Peter's room.
"I'm okay!" Peter called out. Tony laughed a little and kept walking.
What's up y'all? (I'm from the south where we say y'all unironically, don't judge me) I've been trying to post more often recently. School's been a pain in the ass lately, so don't expect me to update too often. In other news, I listened to this podcast on Spotify, 'The Two Princes', and it gives me life. You should totally go listen to it. It was even announced that there's going to be a third season! Also, comments give me life! (And so do requests ;))
