Amberly's POV:

When I entered my room, it's like the whole castle was there waiting for me. Maria, Asher and well, my mother were waiting for me. And I knew this wouldn't be pretty.

-Amberly! Said my mother loudly, well more like, yelled my mother with a furious look in her eyes.

-WHERE WERE YOU!?! I WAS WORRIED SICK! She continued.

-No need to yell mother. I said rolling my eyes.

-Could you leave us alone please? She asked Asher and Maria.

-Well, sure votre majesté! Asher said bowing and leaving the room with Maria next to him. UGH! He already thought he owned this place. I should calm down, I'm not angry, well not at him...

-What did you think? Leaving the castle without telling us? The queen said angrily but not as loudly as before.

-Well, if you really want to know. I was tired of being bossed around and above all I was tired that my destiny was all written down and that I didn't have a say about it! I said angrily.

- Where did you go? Said my mother like she didn't even heard what I just said.

-I went to a friend's house, but it shouldn't matter now that I'm here and that I'M not going to go back there! I said quietly.

-Good, you know you have duties to respect and to punish you for running away, I'll postpone the wedding!

-OMG thanks mom! I said happily.

-No, dear you mustn't have heard me right. You are getting married in one month instead of two and your engagement party is going to be in 1 week and all the city is invited, so you'll  have to be a really good girl. She said then she left my room with her habitual grace.

I couldn't believe what I just heard I would be married in exactly one month to a man I didn't love at all. I just wanted to run away again, but I knew it would be even worse when I got back. And I had to marry him, at least if I didn't do it for love, I could do it for my country and the duties I had to respect if I wanted to be the future queen. I sat down on my bed quietly and thought about what my life could have been if I was just a normal girl...

Two days passed and nothing exciting happened. All the castle was in such a hurry to prepare the engagement party and all I could do was mourn in my room. On the day before the party, I was wandering through the castle when I bumped into someone.

-Oh sorry, I didn't see you there. I said in a hurry, but when I looked at the person, my heart stopped. Of course, he would be here... They asked for all the staff to work because the ball was tomorrow...

-Amberly. James said quietly, and all the feelings were back. Just when I thought I was going to be okay, my wound opened again. I guess, it just wasn't healed yet. James walked to be closer to me, but I put my hand on his chest to stop him.

-Don't you dare come closer! I said with all the anger that I consumed.

-So, what? It wasn't real what happened with us? James said sadly.

-Yes, it was for me. But if it were for you too, you would have fought for it. I said tears filling my eyes.

-It was. But what could I have done to change it? I just couldn't handle the fact of losing you to some rich dude.

-Well, that's what happened when you backed out! We could have ran away together! I said sadly.

-No, because I didn't want to be the guy you had to lose everything for! He said.
