Runaway Princess

Him

Amberly's POV:

I felt broken inside, but I had to do that. It had to be done. Nate couldn't wait for me forever and I had to marry Asher. After our little discussion, I went back to Asher and decided that I would enjoy the rest of my evening. As Asher and I were dancing, someone began to talk in a microphone and I turned my head to see James holding it.

-Hum hum, excuse me everybody! James said sad and angry.

Royal guards were beginning to arrive and were trying to make James listen to them.

-You have to get down sir. One guard said.

-Excuse me everybody, I have to say something about this stupid marriage!!! James yelled again. Anger in his eyes... He was drunk.

-Sir you must get down or we'll shoot. Said another guard, while taking his gun.

Everybody was now looking at James and people were starting to whisper. I looked around for Nate, but he was nowhere to be seen. Guards were now on the little scene where James stood, and they were trying to hold him. In the brouhaha, James hit one guard and tried to run away while hitting all the guards. I was scared.

-Amberly, we must go. It could get dangerous!

And then, one guard fired! He shot James! I was in shock and I couldn't move anymore.

-I HAVE TO GET TO THE PRINCESS! James yelled in anger, on the floor.

The guard fired his gun another time.

-NOO! I yelled, but Asher was already dragging me out of the ball room. I couldn't believe it... maybe James was dead, because I was so selfish, and I didn't want to be a stupid little princess and marry a duke... I start sobbing in silence...

-He is not dead... Asher softly said in my neck.

-They just shot him and... he continued.

-JUST?! I said angrily.

-Calm down Amberly, they are going to get him to a doctor, but unfortunately, he is not going to be allowed to come back to the castle ever again... or he'll be executed... Asher said softly while taking me to my bedroom.

I didn't answer, they had shot an innocent. Just because of me, just because I loved him...I ran on my bed as I arrived in my bedroom, Asher was leaving as I said:

-Do you want to stay? I said without thinking... He turned around with a little smile on his face

-Anything for you princess... He said winking at me... I didn't want him to think anything could happen between us, because now I was sure who my heart belonged to...

-Hum, Asher? I said nervously.

-Yes? He answered.

-I don't think anything could happen between us... I said fastly.

-Oh, I know. He said still smiling.

-I just wanted to be sure... I said, flashing him a smile back.

He sat on my bed and looked at me carefully.

-I'm there as a friend, Amberly. Come here. He said, opening his arms and I rushed into his arms. It felt really great, just staying there. Asher smelled really great and it made me feel warm. I knew, he was just a friend, but I could get used to stay there.

*TOC TOC TOC*

-Come in! I said getting out of Asher's arms.

Maria entered, and a surprised look appeared on her face, but she erased it immediately.
