Amelia stepped into what appeared to be a walk in wardrobe. She walked around it twice before heading over to what appeared to be formal office clothes. She picked out a red A-line dress with matching patent red heels. She grabbed a coat off a hook once she was dressed and left the bedroom.
Once on the landing she listened for the sounds of Daniel so that she didn’t get lost.
She heard footsteps on the floor below so walked down the wide staircase and into the first room.
There was no one inside this room, which appeared to be a living room, although Amelia had never seen one like this before. The ceiling was a massive fish tank with hundreds of tropical fish swimming around in it. One whole wall was made entirely of glass, which made light bounce around the fish tank and completely light up the long room. The walls were painted off-white blue with white carpet and dark purple settees and armchairs. Amelia removed her heels and carried them through the room with her, as she got the impression that shoes never made an appearance on the white rugs.
The end of the wall opposite the glass had an elaborate arch carved into it that led into a top of the range kitchen with a spotlessly perfect dining area.
Daniel had his back to me as he stood at the sink.
Amelia walked up behind him and put her arms around his waist.
‘Hey baby,’ she said as he turned around and kissed her softly on the lips.
‘Why’d you take so long? You’re normally quicker than that,’ Daniel said with a frown as he led her to the table and put a plate of toast and marmalade in front of her.
‘I forgot how to open the wardrobe,’ Amelia said with a blush.
‘Aw okay, don’t worry Hun. You were pretty knocked out after that party yesterday anyway,’ Daniel said with a wink as he went back into the kitchen.
Amelia was really confused now. How did Daniel know that she loves parties? Or that tangerine marmalade was her favourite toast topping? And why was he calling himself her fiancé? She was sure that she’d never seen him before in her life.
‘You done honey?’ he was back; he stood behind her and snaked his arms around her waist.
‘Yeah thanks Hun, that was just what I needed,’ Amelia turned around and kissed him lightly on the lips.
She felt out of place kissing him, even though her heart was telling her that she’d done it hundreds of times before, she couldn’t get over that feeling of just meeting him.
