Maybe this house has forgotten how to smile
—————-
I found hate in a mother's eyes
For I had taken her sunshine, her smiles, and cloaked lies
and threw them in her face
But how can you deceive an instinct?
How could you not love me the way you always said
You learned how to hate your own creation
and make it hate itself
—————
Hold your tongue between chattering teeth
As you relinquish a part of your sanity
To an old photograph,
That has taken the red from your cheeks
And placed it in their eyes
—————
Do you see happiness in the form of light
And sadness in the lack of it
Do you think time will change all the memories you had
Into a darker shade of emotions
Till smiles are painted red
And eyes are just black, lifeless holes in everyone's head
For I've lost the feeling your face once gave me
And wonder if I could ever get it back
———————
I have melted away
All feeling and limbs are a distant memory
That once laid atop my stiff mattress
But has now fell through it
I couldn't tell you if I went with them
Just that I found a face in the patterned ceiling
A little different from the one yesterday, and the day before that
