*************

(Mila’s POV)

I was fuming. I was confused. More importantly, I was scared. I don’t even know what to do or how to respond to this. What was going on? I had been pinching myself over and over again as I waited for Briar to finally speak up. He wasn’t saying anything. In fact, he wasn’t even moving. He was just standing there staring at me but he wasn’t here. I could tell his thoughts were elsewhere. I couldn’t blame him really. Mine were too. I couldn’t stop thinking about the magic. MAGIC. Briar really did magic. It was shocking. Yet somehow, I wasn’t really freaking out over his hocus pocus work but rather what it all meant for me.

Briars sighed brought me from my thoughts. I started to feel excited and nervous.

“Alright,” He said.

I watched in anticipation as he started to pace. “Okay.” I mumbled. ‘Just spit it out!’ I thought at him as if he could hear my thoughts.

“So um… I told you the book was spelled and it is… It is spelled so only a specific person could open it. You did. Do the math Mila. You’re connected to this book and Grimina Blackwood somehow.” He told me. I felt my heart race. “We are going to figure out how.” He declared.

“Awesome.” I deadpanned.

Briar chuckled at my sarcasm. “Do you not want to?”

“NO! I do. I really do. It’s just hard to wrap my head around everything.” I admitted. It was true. “How does one figure this type of stuff out?” I asked.

He shrugged. “Google?” He said with a smile. I looked around for something to throw at him but nothing suddenly materialized. “How about we go to the library?” He suggested when he realized what I was doing.

I stopped and looked at him. I didn’t answer right away. “Fine.” I replied. It made sense. The Library had all sorts of information. Maybe something could help.

Briar and Mila hid the painting and everything Briar had ‘borrowed’ just incase and headed out to the public Library. Neither of them spoke.
