Mila and Briar arrived at the library and decided that the Historical section was a good place to start. Briar wanted to know more about Grimina Blackwood beside the local legends. All anyone really knew of Grimina Blackwood was that she was a secretive woman who kept to herself. She died terribly, each story of her death is different, and now no one can live in her home because she apparently haunts it. Briar checked out some books about the local history and Mila was skimming through the internet looking for Blackwood history.
After a few slow and painful hours of coming up with nothing, Mila asked Briar if they was another way to do this.
“We could do one of two things.” He told her quietly because they were still in the library. “Go back to the Manor or go talk to a Pure Blood who knows the history.”
Mila didn’t even have to think. “Pure Blood.” She said quickly.
20 minutes later they were standing outside a little shop.
“Magick Shoppe?” Mila said as she read the sign. That is an odd way to spell it. Shrugging it off as a witch thing, oddly, she followed Briar into the little ‘Shoppe’.
Briar walked down the aisle and Mila followed closely behind. She saw many different things. It reminded her of home. The silks and satin, the smells, candles, books, rocks, incense, plants and even the music playing softly in the background made her feel at home. She smiled and kept following Briar.
Briar stopped outside a beaded curtain and a voice called them in. Mila pushed the bamboo beads aside and walked in. She smelt Earl Grey tea with a hint of Mint and Jasmine. She smiled and then noticed a good looking man in his 40s standing at the window. The rain had picked up again.
“Briar.” The man said in a deep soothing voice. “I’ve been expecting you.” The man had his back to them.
Mila wondered how he knew it was Briar. Did he see him come in?
“Mila Thorne.” The man said. “Please, drink.” He said as he turned around and handed her a cup of the tea she had smelt.
Mila looked at Briar before taking the cup. Briar nodded and she sipped it.
The man looked at Briar and shook his head. “Why do you think I can help you?” He asked
“You’re a seer and a Pure Blood.” Briar said as Mila sipped more of the tea. “Everyone comes to you for help. We’ve sort of discovered some things that make me question others.” Briar said.
The man hummed something and then looked at me before replying. “Grimina Blackwood is something interesting.” He said. All I could think was what is a seer?
Briar and him talked and I found myself not being able to listen. Instead I was enjoying my tea and trying to figure out what a seer was.
“I am sorry Briar. You need to figure this out on your own. It is crucial.” The man said.
“Joshua.” Briar said. “We don’t even know how to start. Just today I told her what a witch was. Just today she saw magic and now you want me to drag her along in this supernatural adventure to find answers about everything?” He expressed.
Joshua nodded. “The book opened for her didn’t it? That means you are not dragging her along but guiding her through her own destiny.” He said. “No no more questions. I am curious what her reading is.” Joshua said as he reached for my cup. I was almost finished but handed it over anyways. Joshua's words rang through my head and I tried to register them. I was so overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to even think.
“Ah.” Joshua said. “It is true.” He mused.
“What is?” I asked nervously. I realized he just read my tea leaves. I saw that in Harry Potter once. OH! Reality set in and I realized he has a special sight. Being a seer was like knowing prophecies and have future type things. Which explained a lot actually. Like how he knew who I was and what Briar was going to ask.
Joshua turned my cup in his hands and then went wide eyed. He looked at me and then back at the cup. “That wasn’t written.” He whispered.
Briar and I both looked confused. “What wasn’t written?” We both asked at once.
Suddenly I felt like covering my body up hiding. Briar was demanding answers and Joshua was now staring at me.
“Your Aura.” Joshua said. “None of this was written.” He looked panicked, worried, confused and a bit mad.
“Briar.” I said scared.
Briar didn’t answer to me. “Joshua, what is going on?” Briar asked.
Joshua didn’t answer his question. “None of this was written. It is all wrong.” He whined to no one in particular. I realized he wasn’t even paying attention to us anymore.
Briar did too because he pulled me out of the room and we left the Magick Shoppe behind. The entire time we were leaving all I could think was that suddenly everything in my life has changed and I don't even understand why.
