𝐑𝐄𝐃, 𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐆𝐄, 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐊 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 filled the open sky as the sun slowly began to set in the distance. A plate of food was set down in front of me, along with a cold glass of water.

Once Owen had received his food as well, we both dug in, starving from our chaotic day. "So, how's school going so far? Keeping your grades up?" He asked as I stabbed a piece of chicken in my chicken caesar salad.

"Grades are fine, I got a ninety-five on my science test before the break," I told him after I finished chewing.

"Proud of you," He complimented and I grinned. I kind of lived for approval, which didn't help sometimes, but I always love it when people say that they're proud of me. It's kind of a reminder that I'm doing a good job so far, and it motivates me to do better.

"So, what was happening with Hoskins?" I asked him, unenthusiastically. I always knew he had a problem with Hoskins, but before today, I've never actually met him in-person.

"You know the usual," He said with a wave of his fork, "Field test, weapons, more idiotic words that I try to forget," I laughed loudly and covered it with a cough when I received weird looks from other tourists.

"Have you talked to Claire?" I asked quietly, hoping he didn't fully realize the question.

My eyes flickered away from my plate and towards Owen who had cocked an eyebrow. "Y/n," He stretched out and I sighed.

"She's really nice and pretty, come on," I tried again and he shook his head.

"She printed out an itinerary for our date," He continued and I shrugged my shoulders.

"She's a very organized person," I pushed and he shook his head.

"Look, it's over between us, so there's no need to keep trying," I let out a deep sigh and stabbed my salad again.

"Right person, wrong time," I coughed before taking a sip of water.

"What'd you say?" Owen asked and I flashed him an innocent smile.

"Nothing,"

The next morning, the sun was slowly rising over the island when I finally woke up. Soon enough, I was fully dressed in a pair of blue, high-waisted, jean shorts, a short-sleeved, black button-down shirt that was tied at the bottom, and a pair of black all-star hightops.

I grabbed my backpack and pilled in complimentary snacks and a few water bottles from my hotel room's fridge. I tossed in my phone, sunscreen and my wallet, before adjusting the dog tags that I had received from Owen a few years back.

Shutting my door, I walked out of the hotel and towards the Visitor Center where I was supposed to meet Claire and the boys. Crinkling a granola wrapper in my hand, I tossed it into the garbage once I finished my small and cheap breakfast.
