Chapter 3: Bus Stop

(Shuichi's POV)

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I tiredly got up and rubbed my eyes. The sunlight was shining through my window, I forgot the last time I woke up in such a pleasant ambiance. I looked over to the desk where I left my phone. I then reached for my phone and turned off my alarm, once I did that, It revealed two message notifications from Kaito.

"Huh?" I continue to open my phone and check the messages, they were sent around five minutes ago.

"Hey Shuichi! Sorry we couldn't text that much yesterday, it was really late once we got home from the cafe!" I was honestly shocked that Kaito had remembered to send me a message in the morning, It made me feel even happier to wake up.

"WeLL, anyways, I just wanted to ask you if ya wanted to walk to school with me! I'm gonna head over to the bus stop near the mall! I'm pretty sure I saw you take that route to school once, It's okay if you can't tho, lol." I hurriedly typed my response back.

"Yeah! I take that route to school. Sorry for the late reply, I just woke up. I can meet you there!" I hit send. Right when my message appeared to be delivered, the stress of the situation I put myself in hit me.

Oh my God, I barely have enough time left to meet him!

I stumbled off my bed and turned on my lights, I quickly located my uniform and changed into it. I double-checked to see that all my assignments were in my backpack. I checked myself one last time in the mirror. Once I finished changing in a rush, I left my room a mess. Some of my clothes from yesterday were on the floor, and I didn't get a chance to fix my bed. I didn't want my aunt to be picking up after me, so I left a note on my desk saying that I will clean my room once I get back from school. After that, I stormed out of my bedroom and into the bathroom where I came across my uncle.

"Oi Shuichi! Good morning! What's with all the rush?" my uncle asked.

"G-Good morning uncle, I have to get ready quickly so I can meet up with my friend." while I was answering his question, I was grabbing my toothbrush and I started to brush my teeth.

"That Kaito guy? Your aunt told me about him a while ago." I finished brushing my teeth and I started to fix up my hair.

"Yeah! He wanted to walk to school with me today... How was your detective work yesterday? You worked quite late." I glanced at my uncle as he sighed.

"We had a big case yesterday, double murder near the west side, it's was a tricky one, but we managed to solve it this morning." My uncle has always been a genius when it comes to detective work, it's honestly overwhelming to think about how many cases he has cracked at this point.

"If you want, I have some additional crime cases leftover from this week that you can help solve, I left them on my desk." He asked. I always enjoyed helping my uncle solve cases. I don't know why, but it's always felt like I've had a calling to detective work. I try my best to solve the less complicated crime scenes, but my uncle always likes for me to help out with the significant cases as well.

"Of course, I don't have any plans after school as of now." Right when I replied to my uncle, I noticed all the time that I had wasted as of now. It was around 6:42, I had 18 minutes to make it to the bus stop on time! I checked my phone again to reveal another message sent by Kaito.

"It's totally okay bro! I'm just about to head to the bus stop right now. I don't mind waitin' ;D" I admit, I was gonna let out a small giggle due to the ";D" at the end of his message.
