Chapter 6: Payback Time

"Hey guys hindi pa ba kayo tapos dyan? Labas naman tayo." Aya ni Kim sa mga kadormmate na kasalukuyang abala sa kani-kanilang aralin. Si Cienne nagbubuno sa paper n'ya sa Psychometrics 2 habang si Camille ay kasulukuyang nagrereview para sa laboratory exam n’ya sa Experimental Psychology. Si Mika naman ay nakikipagdate sa sandamakmak na libro habang gumagawa ng note cards para sa thesis n'ya samantalang si Carol ay nagsusunog ng kilay sa programming. Malapit na kasi ang exams week at abala na halos ang lahat. Well except maybe for Kim. S'ya lang yata ang may ganang gumala sa panahon ngayon. But to her dismay, no one even said a word.

"Come on saka n'yo na tapusin yan." Sabi n'ya sa kanila nang di man lang s'ya tinapunan ng tingin ng mga yun.

"Argh" She groaned when again there was no response. She just returned at the living room where she threw herself at the couch. And there she was again, surfing channels through the television. She has been stuck with their tv for the past two hours and worst was she couldn't really find any interesting show to watch.

Almost everyone was having a busy night and they wouldn't allow anyone or anything to distract them. Heck, they wouldn't even lift their eyess off what they were doing. And poor Kim was left with the sound of the television and boredom. And frankly, it was starting to get on her nerves.

After some time of contemplating to herself, she went back to her friends who were as she had left them-- still busy.

"Oi Labas tayo bukas. Sa Sabado na lang tayo umuwi." Suhestyon n'ya uli sa mga kasama. Tuwing weekend kasi ay nag-uuwian sila sa kani-kanilang probinsya.

"Pwede ba Kim tumahimik ka. Di mo ba nakikitang busy kami?" Cienne suddenly snapped at her. She was getting irritated at Kim who just couldn't keep her mouth shut. The latter was actually adding up with her frustration as she couldn't squeeze anymore ideas for her 5 pages long paper and unfortunately she was still short by 2 pages.

"I know. I know and I'm sorry. Pero promise last na to. Pagbigyan n'yo na ako please?"

"Oo na kaya lumayas ka na rito and do your own thing." Cienne finally said while shoving her right hand to Kim to which she willingly obeyed.

Friday night came and everyone was gathered at the living room. They have decided to go to Dulces Sueños because it was one of their favorite hangout place and Mika hadn't been there. They were ready to go but they were just waiting for someone or at least they were.

Meanwhile Ara was at the kitchen to get some water.

"Ara, tara. Sama ka sa amin sa Dulces Sueños." Nakangitinging yaya ni Kim kay Ara sa lakad nila habang nakaakbay pa sa huli.

"Sige na Ara. Parang welcome party na din natin to kay Mika. Antagal-tagal na nating nakatira sa iisang bubong pero hindi pa tayo nakakalabas ng magkakasama." Dagdag pa ni Camille.

Mika held her breath as she anticipated Ara's reply. She was secretly hoping that the latter would come.

"Tss...Give me the keys."

"Yes!" Napasuntok sa hangin si Kim sa tuwa habang si Camille ay nakangiti ng malapad. Napaapir naman sa isa't-isa sina Carol at Cienne. Si Mika naman ay nagmamasid lang at napansin n'yang para bang nagkaroon ng maliit na pagdiriwang dahil lang sa pagpayag ni Ara.

Kakaiba talaga s'ya. Parang nakadepende sa kanya ang magiging mood ng lahat.
